Job summary

SpaceX in Starbase, TX is seeking a Sr. Spaceport Designer, Interior Design to lead the aesthetic vision for Starbase facilities and manage all design phases from concept to execution.

You will work with engineers, architects and project managers to build out the campus while maintaining SpaceX branding and ensuring on-site delivery. The role requires strong proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD and rendering tools, a portfolio of modern/futuristic spaces, and the flexibility for long hours, onsite work,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or design discipline.
• 10+ years of experience creating design documents including plans, elevations, specifications, and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with stakeholders to define project requirements and perform spatial planning.
• Prepare design development docs, presentations, renders, and material palettes.
• Produce drawings, elevations, sections, specifications, and schedules.
• Compile finishes and FF&E specifications database; manage color & material studio.
• Prepare cohesive design standards for sitewide development and brand consistency.
• Manage procurement and oversee installation of design elements.
• Partner with cross-departmental teams for design details.
• Perform project control tasks: scheduling, budgeting, cost control.
• Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field.
• Take on new projects as business needs arise.

SR. SPACEPORT DESIGNER, INTERIOR DESIGN

As a member of the Starbase Development team, you will have direct ownership of leading the aesthetic vision for Starbase, with a key focus on making all facilities inspiring places to work. You will directly manage all phases of projects from concept development through execution. You will work with a group of elite engineers, architects and construction project managers across multiple disciplines to build out the Starbase campus as the gateway to Mars.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with stakeholders and end users to define project requirements, evaluate project feasibility and perform spatial planning
• Prepare design development documents, presentations, renders and material palettes to communicate design intent
• Produce drawings, elevations, sections, specifications, and schedules with attention to details
• Compile database of existing finishes and FF&E specifications and manages color & material studio
• Prepare cohesive design standards for sitewide development, and ensure consistency and maintenance of the SpaceX and Starbase brand
• Manage procurement and oversee installation of design elements
• Partner with cross-departmental teams to define requirements and derive design details for all functional and utility needs
• Perform project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control. Design all elements of the project to meet target budgets
• Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time
• Take on new projects ad-hoc as the business needs

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or design discipline
• 10+ years of experience creating design documents including plans, elevations, specifications, and schedules

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Experience in designing spaces that are modern, minimalist, and/or futuristic
• Experience in designing physical environments or branding for commercial and hospitality spaces
• Experience in selection of finishes, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and artwork for industrial and commercial projects
• Experience designing custom art pieces, including murals, sculptures or other exhibitions
• Proficiency in Revit, Sketchup, Revu Bluebeam, and/or AutoCAD software
• Proficiency in rendering software (Photoshop, Lumion, D5, Enscape, or similar)

Additional Requirements

• This position is based in Starbase, TX and requires being onsite – remote work not considered
• Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on project and site operational needs; flexibility required
• Travel may be required to support design and activation of Spaceport Development projects at other locations
