Overview

Serves as a solutions expert, at the business unit level developing the most advanced end-to-end solution architecture for highly complex and significant initiatives in partnership with key business and IT stakeholders

Essential Functions
  • Exposes current state architecture and identifies options for future state architecture.
  • Works closely with business and IT stakeholders creating solutions that balance competing interests and concerns.
  • Develops plans for and facilitates the migration from current to selected future state by providing technical leadership to multiple initiatives.
  • Mentors those in less senior positions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specific Information
  • Provide conceptual guidance and execute on architectural patterns in collaboration with other enterprise and solution architects
  • Create strategic roadmaps for transitioning to target enterprise future state, in alignment with business and technology goals
  • Analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations
  • Participate in technology reviews; experiment with new ideas and technology trends to determine impact on the enterprise architecture
  • Identify strategic and tactical solutions and be able to influence and negotiate with colleagues and project stakeholders
  • Effectively work across geographically disperse locations and be comfortable in a 'remote' work environment
  • Mentor and cross train others on the team and across the organization
  • Experience presenting to non-technical and technical executive audiences
Skills Considered a Plus
  • Hands on experience with legacy modernization (IBM iSeries / Monolith to Microservices).
  • Advanced experience with Cloud and DevOps.
  • Familiarity with high-availability, resiliency and disaster recovery patterns.
  • Observability and reliability engineering concepts.
  • Knowledge of Transportation and/or Postal industry
  • Effective oral and written communicator, skilled in negotiations and customer-service oriented
  • Knowledge of and ability to use The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) to effectively plan, develop and govern enterprise architecture
  • Familiar with quality attributes and tactics as defined by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI)
  • Experience working in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and agile practices such as Kanban
  • Working knowledge and experience developing large scale enterprise systems
  • Proven project leadership and solid track record of prior enterprise projects
Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems or related field and/or equivalent.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of software and solution architecture principles. Strong problem solving, human relations, and communication skills.

Domicile Locations/Remote

The desired locations for this position would be Pittsburgh, PA or Memphis, TN.

This position may be located anywhere within the US excluding AK, HI and US territories. Depending on your location, you may be required to work at a FedEx Campus several times per week.

Relocation
