Corning is seeking a Sr. Solution Architect for Procurement Systems to lead the transformation of our procurement technology landscape. You will map IT capabilities, set technical roadmaps, and align with Enterprise Architecture and Service Owners through vendor engagement and market analysis.

You’ll direct a team of SAP experts and external partners to deliver solutions, ensure compliance, and drive innovation in procurement across Corning’s global business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT supply chain and procurement systems.
• Over 5 years of practical experience with SAP procurement modules: SAP MM, SAP Ariba, SAP Fieldglass.
• Proven track record in architectural design of procurement ecosystems beyond SAP products.
• Experience managing delivery and support teams within IT SAP environments.

Responsibilities

• Strategically align long-term procurement system initiatives with the broader IT procurement landscape.
• Advise business procurement teams on advanced procurement capabilities within and beyond SAP (e.g., Intake, Supplier Data Management).
• Lead a team of IT procurement experts to design, enhance, and support procurement solutions to Corning and industry standards.
• Maintain a roadmap for procurement systems ensuring scalability, efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.
• Identify opportunities for enhancement in procurement technologies and processes, incl. process mining with SAP Signavio.
• Coordinate IT PMO planning for transition of end-of-life systems with minimal disruption.
• Collaborate with Service/Product Owners and Engagement Managers as a technical liaison with vendors.
• Advocate innovative technologies and consolidate opportunities across procurement teams.
• Provide technical leadership for procurement systems and integration with supply chain IT processes.
• Serve as SME for procurement processes and contribute to continuous improvement.

The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly qualified IT Solution Architect for Procurement Systems to spearhead the transformation of our procurement technology landscape. The successful candidate will be accountable for identifying and mapping IT capabilities, establishing technical roadmaps, and providing expert alignment and support to Enterprise Architecture and Service Owners through vendor engagement and market trend analysis. A significant aspect of this role involves advancing IT capabilities in line with business requirements as defined by Global Supply Management (GSM).

This role demands strong leadership skills to direct a team of seasoned SAP Senior Analysts responsible for delivering project solutions and minor enhancements. The team is complemented by external partners and consultants who contribute to solution delivery and support within a DevOps framework.

The selected candidate will be entrusted with comprehensive responsibility for leading the design, delivery, and support processes, ensuring achievement of objectives and adherence to compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategically align long-term procurement system initiatives with the broader IT procurement landscape, drawing on industry’s best practices and emerging trends.
• Serve as an internal consultant to business procurement teams, advising them on strategies for advanced procurement capabilities both within and beyond SAP, such as Intake or Supplier Data Management.
• Lead a team of IT procurement internal and external experts to execute the architectural design, enhance and support the solution to Corning’s and industry standards.
• Support the creation and ongoing maintenance of a comprehensive roadmap for procurement systems to ensure scalability, efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.
• Identify and recommend opportunities for enhancement within procurement technologies and processes, emphasizing business value through advanced process mining tools such as SAP Signavio.
• Coordinate project planning with the IT PMO regarding the transition of end-of-life systems, aiming for minimal disruption and the smooth deployment of new solutions.
• Collaborate with Service and Product Owners and Engagement Managers in a technical consultant capacity, serving as a liaison between software vendors and internal IT teams. Build a lively network with subject matter experts outside of Corning.
• Advocate for the adoption of innovative technologies and best practices across procurement and supply chain teams, and identify consolidation opportunities
• Provide technical leadership for procurement systems, ensuring robust integration with supply chain IT processes.
• Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for procurement processes, offering insights to SAP SMEs and contributing to continuous improvement and delivery initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT supply chain and procurement systems.
• Over 5 years of practical experience working with SAP modules related to procurement, specifically SAP MM and SAP Ariba, SAP Fieldglass.
• Proven track of architectural design of procurement eco-systems beyond the SAP product portfolio
• Experience managing delivery, and support teams within IT SAP environments.

Desired Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
• Certification or demonstrated proficiency in utilizing BTP extension technologies.
• Demonstrated abilities in strategic thinking and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of process mapping, process mining, and continuous improvement practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Clean Core, RISE, and experience using Cloud ALM.
• Proficient communication and collaboration skills for working with various teams and stakeholders.
• Awareness of emerging technologies and trends within procurement and supply chain sectors.
• Strong organizational and architectural abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment

The range for this position is $129,143.00-$177,572.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
