Job summary

VGS is the world’s leader in payment tokenization. We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to develop and maintain our Credential Management Platform (CMP) and enhance the Event Pipeline.

You will work with cross-functional teams to design, build, and optimize high-throughput, fault-tolerant services in a SaaS environment. The role requires 6+ years in Java/Spring, experience with Kafka, cloud-native microservices, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and AWS, plus strong observability skills.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on Java and Spring Framework experience for building high-scale, production-ready microservices.
• Strong practical experience with Kafka (MSK) and other message brokers for event-driven architectures.
• Cloud-native architecture and microservices with CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Argo), GitOps, APIs, API Gateway, Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Experience with Observability solutions (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus) for diagnosing production issues.

VGS is the world’s leader in payment tokenization. Large banks, aspiring fintechs, and growing merchants embed our universal token vault into their technology stack to manage the complexities of payment data tokenization across processors and networks, open banking, card issuance, omnichannel loyalty, PCI compliance, payment orchestration, and more. We empower our clients and partners by tokenizing sensitive payment data, limiting compliance scope, and consolidating payments to unlock revenue and business opportunities.

VGS provides processor-agnostic tokenization solutions via secure universal token vaults, iframes, mobile SDKs, tokenization proxies, APIs, and data orchestration tooling to support payment acceptance, card issuance, PII and bank account tokenization, and other payments value-added services. Some of the use cases we enable include multi-processor Network Tokenization, Account Updater, payment orchestration, secure settlement file processing, 3DS, and Risk provider connectivity.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sr. Software Engineer to join us. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining our Credential Management Platform (CMP). In addition, this role will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our Event Pipeline. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and optimize high-throughput, fault-tolerant services within the CMP platform.

What we are looking for from you (Requirements)…

• Deep hands-on expertise (6+ years) in Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Security, etc.) for building high-scale, production-ready microservices in a SaaS company.
• Strong practical experience working with Kafka (MSK) or other message brokers for building event-driven architectures and handling high-volume data streams.
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience working with cloud-native architecture, microservices, CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Argo), GitOps, APIs and API Gateway, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Python, and AWS services.
• Strong experience implementing and leveraging Observability solutions (metrics, logging, tracing) using tools like Open Telemetry, Grafana and Prometheus to diagnose and resolve production issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus if points is you have familiarity with the payment processing ecosystem (PCI DSS, tokenization, card networks, processors).
