American Specialty Health seeks a Sr. Software Engineer to join our Information Technology teams. You will analyze, design, develop, and maintain software using Microsoft technologies, mentor others, and refactor legacy components for enterprise-scale systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product owners, adherence to Agile practices, and delivering high-quality code in a remote/WFH setup. A strong foundation in OO design and SOLID principles is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer or technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience performing computer programming with ASP.Net, VB.Net, C#, SQL.
  • Experience with web development programming in a client/server setup.
  • Experience with relational database design, writing queries and stored procedures with MySQL or Microsoft SQL.
  • Experience with Object Oriented Analysis and Development within large enterprise level applications.
  • Experience with development and consumption of web services.
  • Experience with XSLT, XML.
  • HTTP, C#, SQL optimization experience.
  • Experience with software design patterns and architecting complex enterprise systems.
  • Mentoring other programmers; Agile/SCRUM familiarity; SOLID design principles.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and familiarity with LLM APIs.

Salary Range

American Specialty Health complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate’s qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $ 112,500 to $130,000 Full-Time Annual Salary Range.

Remote Worker Considerations

Candidates who are selected for this position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home (WFH) in a designated work area with company-provided technology equipment. This remote/WFH position requires you have a stable connection to your Internet Service Provider with the ability to participate by video in online meetings over a reliable and consistent network (minimum internet download of 50 Mbps and 10 Mbps upload speed).

Responsibilities
  • Analyze, design, develop, and maintain software applications using latest Microsoft technologies, with minimal supervision.
  • Formulates and defines system scope and objectives of complex software applications.
  • Develops an understanding of assigned application and internal customer area, standards and techniques, and general business knowledge.
  • Unit testing as applicable.
  • Provides accurate time estimates of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Mentors other engineers.
  • Properly refactor legacy components as needed.
  • Communicates directly with product owner and end users.
  • Participates in the training or development of others, as directed.
  • Maintains familiarity with and uses department methodology as appropriate.
  • Analyzes alternatives, providing a cost/benefit comparison.
  • Monitors and ensures automated processes run as expected. Responsible for remediation.
  • Assist in code reviews.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT, computer or technical related field or equivalent experience. High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience performing computer programming with experience in ASP.Net, VB.Net, C#, SQL.
  • Experience with web development programming in a client/server setup required.
  • Experience with relational database design, writing queries and stored procedures with MySQL or Microsoft SQL required.
  • Experience with Object Oriented Analysis and Development within large enterprise level applications required.
  • Experience with development and consumption of web services preferred.
  • Experience with XSLT, XML.
  • HTTP, C#, SQL optimization experience
  • Experience with software design patterns required.
  • Experience with designing and architecting complex enterprise level systems required.

  • Completing tasks in a fast paced development cycle.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycles such as Agile or SCRUM.

  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants in day-to-day development.
  • Understanding of prompt design and evaluation for engineering workflows.
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs and basic patterns such as retrieval-augmented generation and function/tool calling.
  • Ability to validate AI-generated output for correctness, security, and bias.
  • Experience building lightweight AI-enabled features into production systems is a plus.
  • Experience with VSCode
