Job summary

Illumio is seeking an experienced software engineer to build a groundbreaking Zero Trust Segmentation orchestration within multi‑cloud environments. You will work on high‑impact features, from design to delivery, spanning container platforms and security controls.

You will mentor teammates and collaborate with field teams to shape a novel product that protects critical infrastructure across enterprises.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent; Master’s a plus.
• 5+ years building distributed and scalable software systems.
• Proficient in Go, Python, or Java; strong CS fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and related technologies; solid networking basics.

Responsibilities

• Build a new orchestration approach for Zero Trust Segmentation at the application/pod level.
• Deeply engage with container platforms like Kubernetes, Istio, OpenShift, AKS, EKS, GKE.
• Own and design critical features; defend designs with peers before implementation.
• Deliver robust, scalable, secure, and maintainable software across multi-cloud environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns to grow technical excellence.

Your Impact

• You will build a new, unprecedented way to orchestrate Zero Trust Segmentation down to the application / pod level, identifying easily blocking pathways of attacks in the container ecosystem
• You will understand and enhance modern container platforms such as Kubernetes, Istio, OpenShift, AKS, EKS, GKE etc.
• You will have the opportunity to own and design critical features and subsystems, work out all the details, and defend the design before your peers.
• You will deliver a rock-solid implementation that is elegant, simple, scalable, stable, secure, and supportable. Our product protects the critical infrastructure of large enterprises. It must work.
• You will also mentor junior engineers, new-grads, and interns to help them grow as engineers and become productive members of the team.
• You will have the opportunity to work with the field organization and key customers to shape this novel product.

Your Toolkit

• Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent degree. Master’s degree a plus
• 5+ years building distributed & scalable software systems.
• Proficient in at least one higher-level language such as Go, Python , Java, etc.
• Experience building large, distributed, and scalable software systems.
• Familiarity with, and passion for Kubernetes and related technologies.
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, networking concepts, and debugging skills.
• Experience with networking and security controls is a plus
• General TCP/IP networking knowledge
• Unix/Linux programming environment experience
