Job summary

Playlist is seeking a senior backend engineer to build and evolve our backend systems powering a large-scale SaaS platform. You will partner with Product, Design, and QA to turn ideas into reliable, scalable production services in a mixed stack (Java/Kotlin/C#) with a strong emphasis on observability and maintainability.

You will design robust services, promote testing, and drive architectural decisions across microservices.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience (8+ years) building and operating backend systems for large-scale SaaS platforms.
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, C#, with comfort in a mixed stack.
• Experience architecting backend services in a microservices environment.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic or Kibana.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills with performance focus.
• Solid understanding of SDLC, design patterns, and Agile methodologies.

The Role You'll Play

You’ll help build and evolve the backend systems that power ClassPass, partnering closely with Product, Design, and QA to take ideas from concept to production in a way that’s reliable, scalable, and grounded in real customer needs.

The Experience You’ll Bring

• Senior-level experience (8+ years) building and operating backend systems for large-scale SaaS platforms.
• Proficiency in object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin, C#, and comfort working in a mixed stack.
• Experience architecting and designing backend services in a microservices environment.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic or Kibana, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating system risks.
• Solid understanding of SDLC, design patterns, and Agile methodologies.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, with attention to performance and maintainability.
• Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across roles and working styles.

Compensation

• The base salary range for this position in the United States is $151,000 to $200,000.
• The total compensation package may also include a performance bonus, benefits, and other applicable incentive compensation plans.
