Job summary

AppFolio seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join a focused cross-functional team enhancing the accounting module of the AppFolio Property Manager product. You will help integrate with financial institutions, add new account types, and improve data intake methods.

The role requires 5+ years as a full-stack engineer, strong Ruby on Rails, React/Redux, AWS, and SOA experience, and a proven ability to work in SaaS environments with Agile practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience as a full-stack software engineer.
• Hands-on experience developing web-based applications, preferably in a SaaS environment.
• Knowledge of Ruby on Rails and experience with Ruby, Java, or Python.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, Redux, AWS, and SOA.
• Familiarity with Agile software development processes (Scrum or Kanban).
• Experience with Test-Driven Development.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners such as PM and UX.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a 6‑person cross‑functional product development team focused on enhancing the accounting module of our AppFolio Property Manager product. The team owns features that enable customers to integrate with their financial institutions and pull data into our product. They are currently working to add new account types and data intake methods.

• Experience working across all levels of the development stack.
• Experience with AI‑driven development and integrating large language models into production workflows.
• Familiarity with standard AI terminology such as agents, embeddings, and context windows.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary for this role is $138,400 – $173,000. The actual base salary will be determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, education, and experience. Base pay does not include additional benefits or bonuses. Regular full‑time employees are eligible for a benefits package.
