Job summary

McLane seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to design, build, and scale cloud-native apps for our enterprise. You will work across backend services in Java/Spring Boot or Python, and frontend with React or Vue, deploying primarily on Google Cloud Platform with Azure familiarity.

The role emphasizes IaC with Terraform, RESTful APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and collaboration with architects and product teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full stack development.
  • Strong backend development experience with Java (Spring Boot/Quarkus) and/or Python (Django or Flask).
  • Solid frontend experience using React or Vue.js.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and familiarity with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Terraform for IaC, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases; CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • English proficiency for work instructions and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable full stack applications supporting critical business capabilities.
  • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java and/or Python.
  • Develop modern, responsive user interfaces using React or Vue.
  • Design and implement cloud-native solutions in GCP with Azure support.
  • Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into solutions.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud deployment strategies.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices, security, and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and drive continuous improvement.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office at least three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable full stack applications supporting critical business capabilities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field required.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full stack development.
  • Strong backend development experience with: Java (Spring Boot/Quarkus) and/or Python (Django or Flask)
  • Solid front-end development experience using: React, Flutter, Vue.js
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DB2, or Oracle.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development workflows, and code review practices.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a hybrid, cross-functional team environment.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
