Job summary

PayPal is seeking a senior software engineer to join our San Jose team, building scalable distributed services that power payments and experiences for merchants and consumers. You will contribute to backend and frontend initiatives, work with cloud platforms, and participate in modern CI/CD pipelines.

A strong emphasis on data structures, algorithms, and testing will guide your work. You will collaborate across teams to design robust APIs (GraphQL/REST), optimize databases, and implement caching

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, plus three years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, plus five years of experience.
• Experience with Golang or Python.
• Experience with React and modern front-end architecture.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and debugging.
• Experience developing unit, integration, and functional test suites.
• Experience with large-scale, distributed, event-driven, highly available software systems.

• 10. Experience with distributed caching and in-memory data technologies, including open-source or managed cloud-based solutions. (3 years)
• 11. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools for sprint planning and release management.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Primary Location | Pay Range:

San Jose, California | Salary: $186,142.00-270,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
