Job summary

Esri’s Field Apps team is seeking an experienced iOS developer to design, build, and test advanced apps that empower professionals in the field. You will collaborate across disciplines to meet real-world mapping and data collection needs.

You’ll contribute to performance optimization, security, and UX while showcasing your work at conferences and in App Store submissions. Join a team that values hands-on development and scalable iOS solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/engineering/math or related field.
• 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Proficiency in Objective-C and/or Swift, Xcode, and Cocoa APIs.
• Experience with GIS, RESTful services, and Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test functionality for the latest iOS apps.
• Collaborate with developers and designers through the full development cycle.
• Translate user requirements into robust field mapping and data collection apps.
• Address performance and caching issues with solid UX design.
• Share iOS best practices and contribute at conferences and reviews.
• Showcase apps on App Store and demonstrate code quality.

Job description

Join Esri’s Field Apps team and take the lead in building next-level iOS applications that empower professionals around the world to make critical decisions in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test functionality for the latest iOS apps
• Join forces with other developers and designers throughout the development process
• Understand user requirements; these apps have to meet real-world scenarios
• Develop software for use in field mapping, data collection, sensor networks, street navigation, and more
• Solve complex problems with design, development, and user experience
• Be an Apple advocate within Esri and at conferences; help us grow our iOS development expertise
• Develop strong skills and best practices on the team through participation in design and code reviews

Requirements

• Be an Apple enthusiast and a game changer
• 5+ years of commercial software development experience
• You are eager to learn but you’ve got these things covered: Objective-C and/or Swift Xcode Developing with the Cocoa and Cocoa Touch APIs Object oriented design skills Data structures and algorithms
• App development issues related to performance optimization and caching
• All the other important things that will help you be successful at Esri: Good communication skills, A team player who can also fly solo The ability to thrive in an environment that changes often

• Prior experience building spatial/mapping applications or software components
