Impact You’ll Make

As a Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you’ll play a critical role in strengthening quality across SIAM and the broader digital banking ecosystem. You’ll expand automation coverage, build scalable testing solutions, and help teams deliver faster, more reliable releases that create stable, secure, and high-quality experiences for BECU members. Working across multiple product areas, you’ll bring consistency to QE practices while identifying testing gaps and reducing reliance on manual testing. You’ll have the autonomy to solve complex quality challenges while helping shape testing strategy, frameworks, and engineering standards. Your technical leadership and sound judgment will help teams confidently deliver products our members can depend on.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA or VA.

If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Advance Automation: You’ll design, build, execute, and expand automated tests and frameworks that increase coverage, reduce manual testing effort, and support reliable releases across multiple application platforms and product areas.
  • Strengthen Software Quality: You’ll assess the design and structure of applications and services, identify opportunities for improvement, debug complex issues, and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring defects.
  • Close Testing Gaps: You’ll analyze production issues and identify gaps throughout the testing stack, turning what you learn into systemic improvements to automation and overall QE practices.
  • Enable Reliable CI/CD: You’ll ensure automated tests are integrated into software builds and execute reliably within continuous integration systems, helping teams move toward faster and more consistent delivery.
  • Shape QE Strategy: You’ll partner with developers, architects, product owners, and other QEs to design and document testing roadmaps and establish a shared quality vision across initiatives.
  • Lead Across Teams: You’ll work across multiple tracks and product areas, bringing consistency to testing practices, tooling, release readiness, and quality standards while proactively communicating risks and gaps.
  • Elevate Engineering Standards: You’ll review and approve code and tests written by other SDETs for style, consistency, and adherence to BECU standards while partnering with senior engineers to help evolve those standards.
  • Develop Others: You’ll mentor SDETs, QA professionals, and junior developers through individual consultation, code reviews, and test-case reviews, helping strengthen technical capabilities across the team.
  • Influence Through Technical Expertise: You’ll regularly present technical topics and solutions to the engineering community and contribute your perspective during cross-functional discussions.
  • Drive Testing Outcomes: You’ll effectively lead and leverage small testing teams, evaluate results and failure patterns, and support bug triage through resolution.
  • Champion BECU Standards: You’ll perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and applicable compliance, regulatory, and Information Protection requirements.
  • Contribute Where Needed: You’ll perform additional duties as assigned while bringing the senior-level ownership, adaptability, and problem-solving mindset needed in a cross-functional environment.

This isn’t just about ticking off tasks on a list. It's about making a significant, positive change in BECU’s journey, where your contributions are valued, and your growth is continually fostered.

What You’ll Gain
  • Visible Member Impact: Help improve the quality and reliability of digital banking experiences by increasing automation coverage and reducing production defects.
  • Technical Ownership: Take on complex automation challenges with the autonomy to design solutions, improve frameworks, and influence how testing is performed at scale.
  • Cross-Domain Exposure: Collaborate beyond a single product or testing track, partnering with teams spanning SIAM, Online Banking, Mobile, LPP, SDMO, Mortgage, CCSS, and other initiatives.
  • Modern Automation Opportunities: Deepen your experience with C#, Selenium, Playwright, CI/CD-aligned frameworks, and evolving technologies while helping move automation maturity forward.
  • Strategic Influence: Build your impact beyond hands-on testing by shaping QE strategy, mentoring others, establishing standards, and partnering with engineering and product leadership.
  • Meaningful Transformation: Help strengthen consistency across three SIAM teams while supporting high-priority programs where quality, security, stability, and release velocity matter to BECU members.
