Job Purpose

The Senior Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and quality-focused operation of a designated production line during second shift. This position provides direct supervision to production employees, ensures production schedules are achieved, promotes continuous improvement initiatives, and maintains compliance with company safety, quality, and operating standards. This role serves as the primary leader for all shift activities, driving employee engagement, accountability, productivity, and operational excellence. The Sr Shift Supervisor will also oversee the management of employees onsite, ensure safety measures and proper flow within the warehouse of goods, daily workload of employees, time off, and employee development

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating professionally with employees, customers, vendors, and management.
  • Lead all day-to-day operations for an assigned production line during second shift.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop production employees to achieve performance expectations.
  • Conduct shift startup meetings and communicate daily production goals, priorities, and safety topics.
  • Monitor production activities to ensure schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments and workflow to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Monitor labor utilization, attendance, and overtime requirements.
  • Train and cross-train employees to support operational flexibility and workforce development.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Maintenance, and Materials teams to resolve production issues and improve performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements related to safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, and employee engagement.
  • Ensure accurate completion of production reports, labor tracking, attendance records, and other required documentation.
  • Support inventory accuracy by ensuring proper material handling and transaction practices.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization throughout the production area.
  • Conduct performance coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations in accordance with company policies.
  • Communicate production status, challenges, and operational updates effectively during shift handoffs and leadership meetings.
  • Support implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to production interruptions and facilitate timely problem resolution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing leadership experience will be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience overseeing production associates in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems and production reporting systems preferred.

Working Conditions

This position operates primarily in a manufacturing environment where exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures may occur. This role requires routinely moving throughout the production floor and may occasionally be required to work extended hours or weekends to support business needs. The normal schedule for this position is second shift, 2:30 PM to 11:30 PM.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb as necessary.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and powered industrial vehicles.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
