Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Sr. Security Engineer to strengthen security across the Java-based platform and AWS infrastructure for a leader in IT.

This remote role supports development teams and executive stakeholders, improving monitoring, incident readiness, and compliance posture. Responsibilities include remediating vulnerabilities, enforcing IAM policies, reviewing AI-assisted pipelines, and shaping secure development standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on security engineering experience in apps, cloud, or infra.
• Strong AWS security experience, IAM and VPC networking.
• Experience securing large production codebases, JVM preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
• Excellent prioritization and stakeholder communication.
• Security certifications such as CISSP or OSCP are a plus but not required.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Security Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will strengthen the organization’s security posture across application, cloud, and infrastructure environments. The Sr. Security Engineer will focus on reducing risk in a modern Java-based platform and AWS ecosystem while partnering closely with engineering and executive stakeholders. This is a highly cross-functional position that will help shape secure development practices, improve monitoring and incident readiness, and support compliance efforts.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $155,000+ annually

Responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities in the Java-based platform and AWS infrastructure
• Drive improvements in infrastructure security, with a focus on IAM policies and network controls
• Conduct security reviews of AI-assisted development pipelines and tools
• Develop and maintain secure development standards for engineering teams
• Partner with the CISO on risk assessments and compliance initiatives
• Contribute to incident response readiness and enhance security monitoring
• Communicate security priorities and progress to technical and executive stakeholders

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands‑on security engineering experience, including application security, cloud security, or infrastructure security
• Strong experience with AWS security services, including IAM and VPC networking
• Experience securing large production codebases, with JVM experience preferred
• Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools
• Strong prioritization and communication skills for stakeholder advocacy
• Experience in fintech or regulated environments is a plus
• Security certifications such as CISSP or OSCP are a plus but not required
