Qualifications

  • Experience managing cross-functional projects.
  • Mammalian cell culture experience; CHO/HEK preferred.
  • Experience with mammalian bioreactors and process development.
  • English proficiency (read, write, speak).

We are hiring a Sr Scientist II. The Sr. Scientist II will be responsible for all activities relating to new product development, technical product support and applications, and process development.

The ideal candidate will have CHO and HEK experience as well as Stirred Tank bioreactor.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Hands on laboratory presence as needed to perform experiments and guide/mentor scientists.
  • Manage timelines for multipleprojects.
  • Prioritize work based on the relative importance and urgency for the overall business
  • Effectively and consistently communicate with management and cross-functional teams on progress towards milestones and program needs
  • Prepare formal reports and presentations for group meetings
  • Use professional concepts to perform a wide range of assigned work and solve complex problems in practical ways
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications. (Learn, maintain and advance expertise in areas relevant to company’s products and strategic goals)
  • Good Documentation Practices & Good Laboratory Practices
  • Develop experimental strategy and plans required for the development of new products and product applications supporting the Bioproduction, Gene Therapy, and Cell Therapy markets.
  • Analyze and interpret data using statistical tools as required.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and experimental problems independently and invent/create/implement new technologies methods
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Bioreactor Scale-up Team and lead the team to serve and support other R&D teams and internal customers
  • Develop new applications for products and processes to meet customer needs based on customer feedback. Support marketing and new products through presentations, publications (including application notes, etc.), collaborative studies, interactions with key customers and as a participant in conferences.
  • Contribute to development of long-range plans for Bioreactor Scale-up

Required Skills/Education:

  • Minimum B.S. ina science, bioscience, engineering or bioengineering field.
  • B.S. in a science, bioscience, engineering or bioengineering field with >12 years of relevant work experience or M.S. with >10 years of relevant work experience or Ph.D. with >4 years of relevant working experience.
  • Effective communication skills with external and internal customers
  • Able to build strong relationships
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects
  • Capable of working on complex problems of a challenging nature
  • Capable of independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation of criteria for obtaining results to broadly defined objectives dictated by trends in business and the current product plan
  • Receives minimum instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments
  • Mammalian cell culture experience. CHO and HEK experience preferred.
  • Experience designing, running, and analyzing data from mammalian culture bioreactors. Experience with process development to optimize parameters for bioreactors. STIRRED TANK Bioreactor preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.

Salary and Benefits:

  • For California, the base salary range for this position is $ 106,000- $130,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
