AbbVie Analytical Research & Development (ARD) is a global analytical sciences organization responsible for all CMC analytical activities related to the development of AbbVie's pharmaceutical products. Our scope includes AbbVie's diverse pipeline of innovative small molecule and therapeutic biologic medicines and spans from the selection of Discovery candidate molecules through the transition of analytical methods and testing to commercial labs to support product launch.
Within ARDsChromatography Center of Excellenceis the Screening Lab, which functions as a high-throughput method screening and development group that serves a diverse set of stakeholders and impacts all pipeline programs. The Screening Lab is seeking an experienced Separations Scientist with expertise in chromatographic method development. An ideal candidate would have a proven track record of developing novel approaches for method development and solutions to difficult separations related challenges.The candidate should possess a strong understanding of the fundamental properties and theory of chromatographyas it pertains toboth synthetic andbiotherapeutic molecules.Additional experience withchromatographic method development software,advanced CDS control,downstream purification, and automation is desirable. In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, your expertise and insight will ensure that robust and reliable methods are provided to project teams.
Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertiseto deliver results within project timelines.
Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present work atboth internal and externalscientific conferences.
Proactively seek out new information in the literature and incorporate this into individual project(s) as well as the overall program.
Seize opportunities to pursue project relevant leads that are in line with the groups strategy.
Develophigh-throughput platform screening capabilities for separation-based assays.
Expected to evaluate novel technology approaches and build scientific profile both internally and externally in terms of pipeline contributions and scholarly achievements.
Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab, and communicate effectively withnumerous stakeholders.
Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
May mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and typically 10years of experience, Masters Degree or equivalent education and typically8years of experience, PhD andno experience necessary.
Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline.
Effective writer and communicator of research or other regulatory materials.
Possesses a strong understanding of the fundamental properties and theory of chromatography.
Proven, hands-on experience in the development of novel complex analytical methods.
Experience with in-silico techniques such as chromatographic modeling and machine learning and knowledge of using Fusion, Drylab, Chromsword or GoSilico would be a plus.
