Job summary

Mars Pet Nutrition seeks a Sr. Sales Analyst, Sam’s Club, to translate data into actionable insights across assortment, pricing, promotions and forecasting. Based in Franklin, TN or Bentonville, AR, this on-site role partners with Demand, Supply, and Sales Strategy to influence decisions.

You will build dashboards, manage item portfolios, support promotional planning, and deliver regular performance reports to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years in business analytics, category management, or related fields
  • Direct experience with syndicated data systems (Nielsen) and internal sales tools
  • CPG/retail experience required
  • Experience in customer presentation/storytelling
  • Advanced analytical skills to interpret data and recommend actions
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and ability to influence stakeholders
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving needs

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business performance using multiple data sources (sales, margins, share, households).
  • Identify trends, risks, opportunities across item performance, promotions, launches, and competition.
  • Develop actionable insights with clear narratives for strategic decisions.
  • Support ad-hoc storytelling and maintain attribution for customer narratives.
  • Provide detailed forecasting support by analyzing run rates, distributions, and new item loads.
  • Partner with Demand and Supply to improve forecast accuracy and inventory flow.
  • Manage item portfolio including attribution, system setup, costs, SKU/distribution risk.
  • Samples management for retailer resets, mock-ups, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Support promotional ideation, planning, and post-event analysis.
  • Track promotions and displays, ensuring partner connectivity and updates.
  • Deliver regular reporting for consumption, feature performance, competitive recaps, and meeting insights.
  • Prepare data/presentations for PBRs, QBRs, JBP and other needs.
  • Build dashboards/tools to improve visibility and decision-making across stakeholders.
  • Oversee Compass/financial system upkeep, new item submissions, price changes.
  • Identify process improvements to improve data quality and output.
  • Ensure data readiness for internal systems and customers.
  • Collaborate with Demand, Supply, Sales Strategy, RGM, and Category Management; represent analytics in meetings.

The Sr. Sales Analyst, Sam’s Club position plays a critical role in enabling customer teams to drive business performance across both digital and physical retail channels. This role translates data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across assortment, pricing, promotion, forecasting, and trade investment. It exists to ensure that customer plans are informed by strong analytical rigor and aligned with Mars Pet Nutrition's growth objectives.

What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 3+ years of experience in business analytics, category management, commercial planning, or customer development (preferably in CPG or retail).

  • Direct experience working with syndicated data systems (Nielsen, etc.), retail portals, and internal sales forecast and financial management tools.

  • Previous experience working in the CPG space required

  • Experience in customer presentation building/storytelling.

  • Advanced analytical skills with ability to interpret data, uncover insights, and make strategic recommendations.

  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to influence stakeholders and present findings clearly

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable to evolving business needs.

What would be your key responsibilities?
Business Analysis & Insight Development
  • Analyze business performance across key metrics (sales, supply, margin, share, households) using multiple data sources (e.g., Nielsen, customer specific data portals, etc).

  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities across item-level performance, promotions, new item launches, OOS exposure, and competitive activity (including digital scrapes).

  • Develop actionable insights with clear narratives – articulating the “what,” “so what,” and “now what” to guide strategic decisions.

  • Support ad-hoc storytelling; maintain clean attribution and leverage insights to support customer-facing narratives.

Forecasting & Item Portfolio Management
  • Provide detailed forecasting support by analyzing consumption run rates, distribution shifts, display changes, and new item loads (CER).

  • Partner with Demand and Supply teams to influence forecast accuracy and ensure sufficient inventory flow across Omni channels.

  • Manage and maintain item portfolio including attribution, system setup, cost/OI changes, and SKU/distribution risk analysis.

  • Samples Management – Retailer reset samples, innovation mock-ups and ad-hoc requests.

Promotional & Digital Strategy Support
  • Support promotional ideation, planning, and post-event analysis.

  • Manage tracking tools for promotional and display execution, ensuring retail partner connectivity and timely updates.

Reporting & Performance Measurement
  • Deliver regular reporting including consumption performance recaps, modular and feature performance, competitive recaps, and customer meeting insights.

  • Prepare data and presentations for key customer milestones such as PBRs (Period Business Reviews), QBRs (Quarterly Business Reviews), JBP, and other customer needs.

  • Build dashboards or tools that improve visibility and decision-making across internal and external stakeholders.

Operations & Process Improvement
  • Manage operations-related tasks such as Compass/Financial system upkeep, Club new item submissions, and price change processing.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that drive data quality, efficiency, and actionable output.

  • Ensure data readiness for internal systems and customer requirements.

Internal & External Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams including Demand, Supply, Sales Strategy, Revenue Growth Management (RGM), and Category Management.

  • Represent the analyst function in meetings, planning cycles, and customer engagements for total Club channel
