Job summary

Central Transport is a leading LTL carrier seeking a Driver Manager to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency of linehaul drivers. You will oversee safety advocacy, onboarding, certifications, equipment inspections, and payroll coordination, reporting to the Terminal Manager and collaborating with Operations, Safety, HR, and Linehaul.

The role includes shift management from 3:00pm to 1:00am, Monday–Friday, with travel to terminals quarterly.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transportation management or related field.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office and transportation management software.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe work environment through training and safety meetings.
• Review Hours of Service documentation for compliance.
• Assist HR with driver recruitment and retention.
• Plan linehaul shifts and identify gaps for improvement.
• Onboard and train new drivers; manage ongoing training.
• Ensure hazmat endorsements, CDL licensing, and DOT physicals.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip DVIR checks.
• Manage PTO requests and driver scheduling.
• Maintain tractor records and key log accuracy.
• Oversee terminal travel and quarterly audits.

• LinehaulShiftexecutiontoplan :RegularlyreviewPODdriversetuptoactualexecutiontoplantoidentifygapsforcontinuousimprovementopportunitiesbetweenLinehaulanddockoperations.
• RoadDriverOn-Boarding :Welcomeandorientnewdrivers,conductRoadDrivertrainingcurriculums,andmanageongoingtrainingprograms.
• RoadDriverCertifications :Ensuredriversobtainandmaintainhazmatendorsements,CDLlicensing,andDOTphysicalrequirements.
• EquipmentInspections: Conductdailypre-tripandpost-tripassessments,auditDVIRcompliance,andensuretractorcleanliness.
• RoadDriverTime&Attendance :ManagePTOrequests,ensureaccuratescheduling,andhandlecall-offs.

• EmployeeConduct: IssueIncidentActionReports(IARs)asdirected,reviewIARrequests,andassistwithconductimprovementactions.
• EquipmentAdministration: Assistwithtrailerregistrations,placards,withafocusonpreparations.
• RideAlong: Conductmonthlyrideswithdriverstogatherfeedbackandunderstandtheirperspective.
• RoadDriverJobSelection: Assistwithjobselectionprocesscommunication,answerdriverinquiries,andmaintainunderstandingofcompanyprograms.
• RoadDriverEngagement: Hosteventstoboostmoraleandresolveemployeeconcerns.
• Travel: Visitassignedterminalsquarterlytooverseeoperationsandaddressanyissues.

QualificationsandSkillsRequired:

ReportingRelationships:

TheDriverManagerwillreportdirectlytotheTerminalManagerandcollaboratecloselywithvariousdepartmentsincludingOperations,Safety,HR,andLinehaul.

WorkingConditions:

Thisroleprimarilyoperatesinanfreightterminalenvironmentbutrequiresfrequenttraveltoterminalsforreviewofyardanddockoperations.Workhoursareprimarilyfrom1500to0100,MondaytoFriday,butcanvarybasedonjobdemands.
