Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for conducting Reservoir Engineering studies to support world‑class exploration, development and operations of geothermal resources globally. An individual in this role will work in a world‑class collaborative and multi‑disciplinary environment and will be considered a high‑level contributor and specialist.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures a safe workplace and takes responsibility for safety with the goal of zero incidents.
  • Utilizes technical authority for discipline within company processes as required, consistently achieving high accuracy and relevance of work for self and others.
  • Performs a variety of tasks independently and/or within a team without supervision, driving outcomes that impact the company materially.
  • Acts dependably and uses sound judgement in all activities.
  • Prepares technical insights in reports and presentations using company tools, templates and standards, creating high‑impact results.
  • Manages data and information consistent with company systems and processes.
  • Works independently on projects and leads activities to achieve timely, measurable and relevant outcomes.
  • Conducts training internally or externally and serves as a coach or mentor.
  • Successfully leads multi‑disciplinary teams for work activities, due‑diligence, joint ventures and acts as a primary contact.
  • Demonstrates leadership in creating new projects and opportunities.
  • Innovates and improves company tools, systems and processes, ensuring clear understanding of external best practices.
  • Analyzes performance of production and injection wells, diagnoses problems, plans remedial action and assists with permitting and execution.
  • Evaluates performance of production and injection wells, identifying problems and improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluates effects of corrective actions or changes in field operations, power generation revenue and long‑term resource performance.
  • Collects reservoir data, analyzes well logs and tests, and develops conceptual models.
  • Assists with the design of reservoir models and uses them to optimize production and injection.
  • Works with operations personnel, geologists and project managers to formulate and justify recommendations for well‑field activities and reservoir management.
  • Responsible for planning and specifying well tests, logs and diagnostic procedures.
  • Responsible for design, engineering field supervision, and analysis of well tests with safety as a primary consideration.
  • Responsible for designing and specifying pumps for pumped production wells.
  • Works with Ormat specialists and pump manufacturers to evaluate and improve pump performance and operating life.
  • Responsible for planning, engineering, supervision, analysis and reporting of routine well logs and pressure tests.
  • Documents analyses, interpretations of logs, well tests, diagnostic procedures and results of work overs, drilling and other changes in operations.
  • Works with plant, field operations and IT personnel to maintain data base quality and completeness.
  • Provides pertinent data and analyses to consultants and incorporates their results.
Other Responsibilities
  • Actively handles work or assignments as required that are outside the normal work routine.
  • Represents the company at industry or stakeholder forums professionally as required.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Education, Experience, And Skills Required
  • Must possess a Master of Science or Engineering in a relevant subject. A Doctorate is advantageous.
  • Must have 10–40 years of experience in the industry or related fields, across the full value chain of geothermal (exploration, development and operations).
  • In‑depth knowledge of key components of all associated disciplines.
  • Experience in Project Management (preferably PMI, CAPM or PMP qualification).
  • Proficiency with computer software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet) and ability to acquire new applications.
  • Proficiency in well testing, well test analysis, conceptual modeling and wellbore simulation.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python programming is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in English; other languages such as Spanish and Bahasa (Indonesia) are advantageous.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently.
  • Accuracy, thoroughness and quality performance.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems promptly.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
  • Office work, computer use and repetitive motion for long periods.
  • Power‑plant and well‑field work near hot pipes, drilling rigs and heavy equipment.
  • Navigation and work outdoors in remote field locations and difficult weather.
  • Safe operation of 4WD light vehicles on highways and off‑road.
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Periodic lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Travel up to 30 % of the time, including internationally.
