Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore seeks a Senior Research Data Analyst to build complex data models and conduct rigorous data analysis in support of health policy research projects.
The role emphasizes constructing analytic datasets from large administrative databases, applying econometric methods, and contributing to faculty-led studies, with opportunities for co-authorship; the position is Hybrid within the School of Public Health.
We are seeking a Sr. Research Data Analyst who will build complex data models and conduct complex data analysis in support of research projects, programs, and/or studies. The Sr. Research Data Analyst is responsible for coordination of data and data analysis activities across multiple studies.
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Research Data Analyst to support health economics and health services research projects led by faculty in the Department of Health Policy and Management. The Sr. Research Data Analyst would contribute to a range of policy-relevant projects examining the health of older adults, mental health and substance use, value in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, health care affordability, and improving the value and quality of health care delivery. This is an ideal role for people hoping to apply for a PhD in health economics or health services research, or people with significant experience and interest in applied academic research.
The Sr. Research Data Analyst will primarily be responsible for constructing analytic datasets from large administrative databases including health insurance claims, electronic health records (EHRs), employment records, and population survey data. The position would involve developing analytic datasets, conducting data management and quality assessment, and applying statistical and econometric methods to support faculty-led research. In addition, the Sr. Research Data Analyst may also work with more unstructured data sources such as clinical notes or business ownership records.
Candidates with experience implementing econometric research designs—including instrumental variables and difference-in-differences—as well as regression modeling are especially encouraged to apply. The position provides opportunities to contribute intellectually to research projects and, when contributions warrant, to serve as a coauthor on resulting manuscripts.
The core technical skills listed are most essential; additional technical skills may be required based on specific division or department needs.
