Job summary

Adventist Health Clear Lake seeks a Registered Dietitian to assess nutritional status, translate physician orders into patient-centered plans, and provide clinical nutrition care to inpatients and outpatients. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses and fellow dietitians to deliver evidence-based nutrition therapy and education.

The role requires an RD certification, a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), and a dietetic internship or its equivalent.

  • Performs counselling and nutritional health teaching to patients.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Located in beautiful Northern California, Adventist Health Clear Lake has been a leading healthcare provider in Lake County since 1968. We are comprised of a 25-bed critical access hospital and provide primary and specialty care services at clinics throughout the area to best serve our community. Job Summary:

Assesses the nutritional status of patients, translates physician ordered diets to meet individual patient needs and develops care plans. Provides nutritional care for inpatients and outpatients. Establishes and maintains active communications with patients, physicians, nurses and other dietitians and the Nutritional Services Staff. Provides clinical care efficiently and effectively using a high level of technical and organizational skills as well as critical thinking ability.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Required
  • Master's Degree: Required, only if eligibility for examination began on or after 1/1/24
  • Three years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Leadership experience: Preferred
  • Dietetic internship or its equivalent: Required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Dietitian (RD): Required
  • Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership: Preferred
Essential Functions:
  • Coordinates with clinical staff to create a nutritional plan for patients by assessing the needs of patients. Reviews patient records and assesses best course of action for nutrition therapy and services and documents the plan of care in the clinical record.
  • Identifies potential for problems by direct observation or analysis of data and institutes corrective action. Individualizes plan of care to meet patients' personal care, safety, mobility, dietary and specialized needs.
  • Communicates (verbal, written and through database) with other clinical team members, ensuring that all members of the healthcare team are aware of the nutritional needs for each patient. Communicates with appropriate staff any newly identified patient nutritional risk factors, patient requests for education or patient complaints so that they can be addressed.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital and departmental policies and regulatory agencies at all times.
  • Performs counselling and nutritional health teaching to patients.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
