Job summary

CarMax Elk Grove, CA is seeking a Sr. Reconditioning Associate I to perform paintless dent repair (PDR) and other reconditioning tasks on cars, maintaining CarMax quality standards.

You will support related roles and ensure a clean, organized workspace aligned with CarMax 5S, safety, and efficiency, delivering excellent service to customers and internal partners.

This role requires completing orientation and competency training, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and compliance with safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Complete Associate 1 Competency Model & CarMax timekeeping training.
• Complete Associate 1 Competency Model & CarMax timekeeping training for Hourly Associates.
• Meet performance standards for Cosmetic Reconditioning II, Flow Inventory II, and Sr. Reconditioning II.
• Complete workstation certifications across relevant reconditioning areas.
• Read, interpret, and record data accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions, including outdoors.
• Must be clean-shaven to wear half-face respirator safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform body repairs, masking, sanding, and grinding to restore vehicle surfaces.
• Apply primer and refinish paint, ensuring finishes and defect corrections.
• Remove and replace parts for cosmetic and structural integrity.
• Repair plastics and substrates to CarMax quality standards.
• Maintain and repair specialized equipment while ensuring cleaning and functionality.
• Uphold CarMax Paint Standards and 5S workplace organization; deliver customer service.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of New Associate Orientation Training – Operations
• Accountability to Associate 1 Competency Model and CarMax timekeeping systems training for Hourly Associates
• Ability to meet performance standards for Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II, Flow Inventory Associate II, and Sr. Reconditioning Associate roles
• Successful completion of workstation certifications across all relevant reconditioning areas
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately and perform multiple duties in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions, including outdoor environments
• Required to use CarMax-provided respiratory protection. Must be clean-shaven to use half-face respirator.

The hourly rate for this position is:

$32.03 - $32.03

Benefits:

Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:

• To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
• For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
