Job Description Summary:

This position prepares patients for examinations and preforms diagnostic radiology procedures following standards and protocols set by OhioHealth and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). The position requires the technologist to perform procedures in more than one modality. Therefore, the technologist will be multi-modality trained and/or certified in diagnostics or dexa and one additional modality to include CT, MR, US or Mammo.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • 80% Performs Diagnostic Procedures: Routinely models exemplary customer service behavior including the use of AIDET guidelines in interactions patients. Prepares patient for imaging examination; starts IVs; administers contrast media as needed. Provides radiation safety education to patients and non- radiology associates on a procedure needed basis and utilizes appropriate patient positioning techniques in order to minimize radiation dose, ensure patient safety and provide optimal imaging required for diagnosis. Demonstrates proficiency in a minimum of 5 specialized imaging areas and utilizes radiation generating equipment in accordance to safe operating guidelines to conduct routine radiographic studies in accordance with guidelines set forth by the ARRT and ODH where applicable.
  • 15% Team Support: Maintains a constant knowledge base with regard to new education, techniques, equipment and criteria within the field of Diagnostic Imaging and provides continuing education to the team. Performs QA and assists in supporting others with troubleshooting QA concerns. Serves as in-charge technologist when manager and/or team leader is unavailable, and supports department leadership duties to include: Representing Radiology(participating and presenting) in the KPI/Gemba process. Completing preceptor training and actively serving as a preceptor for both students and new associates. Ensuring par level supplies are available and ordering supplies. Modeling Customer Service Standards. Serving as a lead during any mass casualty/trauma circumstance. Providing professional and appropriate communication to multiple disciplines to support patient throughput. Coordinating updates/education from the Diagnostic Innovation Council representative. Serves as active member on committees as requested. Serves as point person during down time and is knowledgeable of down time and recovery processes and procedures.
  • 5% Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Additional Job Description: A Senior Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist will be a graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Degree Program and must be certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed to practice Radiologic Imaging in the State of Ohio. A Senior Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist possesses a minimum of 2 years of experience has demonstrated competency in 5 or more imaging specialties or modalities including but not limited to O-Arm Surgical Imaging, Biopsy Imaging/Faxitron Use, Bariatric Imaging, Angio OR Imaging, Lithotripsy Imaging, Panorex Imaging, Portables, Trauma Imaging, Neurologic Imaging ( Shuntograms, Myelograms, Lumbar punctures, Pain Block procedures, intrathecal chemo, gait analysis), and NICU imaging. The role requires demonstrated clinical, professional and leadership ability and knowledge, to include demonstrated critical thinking and collaborative ability in a variety of settings. The Senior Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist must meet annual competency standards in the areas of clinical ability, professionalism, and customer service and technologists will be evaluated through the use of designated competency documents determining the demonstrated ability to perform specialized diagnostic imaging in five or more of the department’s indicated specialty areas and the journey to professional excellence, which measures preceptor, leadership and daily operations performance.
