Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Colorado Springs is seeking a Sr R&D Tech to support development, testing, and validation of advanced electronic hardware. You will work onsite on a 9/80 schedule, building prototypes, testing procedures, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics lab testing and validation.
  • Ability to instrument RF/microwave measurements.
  • Soldering of fine-pitch components and hand assembly.
  • Able to read CAD drawings and follow verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and build cable harnesses and assemblies.
  • Inspect CCAs for defects; document with photos.
  • Follow procedures to verify digital and RF CCA function.
  • Operate solder rework stations and fine-pitch soldering.
  • Calibrate test equipment and perform RF/microwave tests.
  • Generate technical test reports and maintain safety practices.

Job Description

As a Sr R&D Tech here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical hands‑on role supporting the development, testing, and validation of advanced electronic hardware. This position combines electronics lab work, RF and microwave testing, mechanical fabrication, and operational support within a fast‑paced engineering environment. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, skilled with both electrical and mechanical tools, and comfortable working from technical documentation and verbal instructions.

This role directly supports engineers in building prototypes, executing test procedures, maintaining specialized equipment, and ensuring high‑quality results across the team.

You work ONSITE out of our Colorado Springs, CO location on a 9/80 work schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capable of build cable harnesses (crimp, solder, heat shrink)
  • Inspect complex CCAs for defects, including taking high quality photos, digitally enhancing, and archiving them.
  • Follow test procedures to verify digital and RF CCA functionality
  • Operate and maintain solder rework stations. Ability to solder fine pitch surface mount components.
  • Operate and maintain hot air solder rework soldering stations
  • Perform RF and Microwave electrical testing to validate product compliance.
  • Provide electrical and environmental stress test support
  • Generate and assemble technical test reports
  • Setup and calibrate electrical test equipment such as PNA and PNA-X Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Noise Figure Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Digital Multimeters, DC Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Arbitrary Function Generators, and Phase Noise Measurement Systems.
  • Assist in creating and/or updating test procedures and work instructions.
  • Able to understand and work from verbal instructions, test specifications and procedures, wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Ability to hand solder fine pitch surface mount components to PCB
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Inventory equipment and lab supplies and order replacement materials when necessary. Create new inventory systems where applicable
  • Track and maintain all safety policies and perform safety trainings
  • Operate forklift
  • Perform regular audits of work areas to ensure safety and efficient workflows
  • Identify and implement solutions for laboratory and machine shop workflows
  • Operate and maintain 3D Printer
  • Operate and maintain various machine shop equipment including drill press, welder, mill, CNC, and bandsaw
  • Use hand tools to assemble racks of special test equipment
  • Understand and work from verbal instructions as well as CAD drawings.
  • Measure finished pieces to verify they are within allowable tolerances and other specifications

The annual base salary range for this position is $ 60000- $76000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
