Job summary

TE Connectivity in Winston‑Salem, NC is seeking a Data Connectivity Product Development Engineer. You will enable safer, more connected vehicles by delivering rugged data interconnects for trucks, buses, and commercial vehicle applications, collaborating with design and test teams.

You will perform RF simulations, validate connector SI with HFSS/CST, and assist mechanical engineers in improving impedance. PCB design, VNA testing, and automotive data protocols knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Background coursework in electromagnetics, signals and systems, channel theory, or related courses.
  • Experience in signal integrity engineering or testing.
  • Familiarity with PCB design, fabrication and assembly.
  • Experience with connector or cable assembly design.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle or Automotive data connectivity protocols is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of data connectivity applications and market trends within ICT industry including assessment of competitive and emerging technologies.
  • Engage with customers to understand applications and establish signal integrity performance requirements for new product designs.
  • Use Ansys HFSS or CST modelling software to perform signal integrity simulations for all relevant requirements including Open Alliance, USCAR, or others as needed.
  • Support the mechanical development engineers by providing simulation results and identifying areas where mechanical improvements are needed to improve impedance of the signal path.
  • Design and assemble PCB’s and test adapters as needed to perform evaluation and validation of connector signal integrity.
  • Use VNA, TDR, or other RF test equipment to verify performance of the connector components matches simulation results and meets needed specifications.

Job Overview

The Industrial and Commercial Transportation Business provides rugged interconnect solutions specifically designed for Truck, Bus, Agriculture, Construction and Recreational Vehicles.

As a Data Connectivity Product Development Engineer, you will be enabling improved safety, vehicle automation, and improved efficiencies based on the ability to provide data interconnects for use throughout the Industrial and Commercial Vehicle market. You will be hands on, supporting Mechanical Design engineers by performing RF simulations and testing to verify the connector designs will meet customer data transmission requirements.

What your background should look like
  • BSEE preferred, ASEE or related field considered
  • Background course work in electromagnetics, signals and systems, channel theory, or associated courses
  • Experience in signal integrity engineering or testing preferred.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board design, fabrication, and assembly
  • Experience with connector or cable assembly design is a plus
  • Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle or Automotive data connectivity protocols is a plus

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $115,000 – $173,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
