Job summary

Kraft Heinz’s Champaign Plant is seeking a Quality Systems Lead to monitor and maintain FSQ programs for the Enhancers area. You will lead audits, drive corrective/preventive actions, and ensure compliance with KHMS, GMP, and ISO standards.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in quality/technical leadership or operations/quality (R/D).
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of quality systems, procedures, & policies.
  • Familiarity with KHMS, audits (GMP, ISO, FSSC) is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and plan effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Identify trends and root causes impacting FSQ KPI metrics and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Lead audits (KHMS, Golden Rule, ISO/FSSC) and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Supervise a small team of Quality Technicians and mentor Enhancers staff.
  • Support internal and external inspections and customer audits.
  • Ensure FSQ program compliance with Kraft Heinz regulations and customer requirements.

Job description

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the Quality systems for the Enhancers area to ensure compliance to regulatory, federal and local laws. Areas of focus will include the identification and achievement of Quality KPI's through appropriate corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement initiatives in the Enhancers area. This role will actively participate in all internal and external auditing activities and follow-up. Further, this role will act as support for implementation and verification of internal, legal, and customer requirements and specifications including ISO; Will leverage KHMS-FSQ and HACCP guidelines to lead the development of new quality systems/programs across the Enhancers area and will provide Quality support/resources for major commercialization projects.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Identify trends and root causes impacting FSQ KPI metrics for Enhancers department. Collaborate with department to implement initiatives to improve those metrics.
  • Conduct investigations to understand and address root causes for consumer complaints related to food safety in Enhancers department.
  • Actively engaged support in planning, defining and directing the site auditing control program to ensure compliance to all procedures, and policies, GMP standards, Kraft Heinz requirements, and regulatory, federal and local laws.
  • Participate in the Golden Rule and KHMS audits, as well as external and customer audits; assist with the development of procedures and follow up on corrective actions as assigned.
  • Support the KHMS – Food Safety Pillar for the plant as outlined in the plant accountability list.
  • Trains, and mentors Enhancers Production team on best practices and ways of working to ensure FSQ program goals are met.
  • Strong support to site compliance program. Monitors and maintains Golden Rule/ KHMS program for Enhancers by complying to current Kraft Heinz regulations, customer requirements, and International Audit (FSSC/ISO) standards.
  • Supervise team of three Quality Technicians; train, coach and lead Enhancers Quality Technicians to ensure FSQ program is implemented, executed, and sustained properly.
  • Actively supports the annual verifications and re-validations all HACCP plans or when required due to project changes.
  • Ensure all Specification/KPI/Golden Rule/ KHMS-FSQ /FSSC/ISO/ plans are maintained and updated/approved as required. Co-lead plant bi-annual validations.
  • Support all internal and external inspections/regulatory visits. Support audit preparation activities, accompany inspector, and complete necessary reports and postings For Enhancers area.
  • Perform follow-ups to non-conformances found and provide responses as appropriate. Review and approve minor change requests.
  • Train Enhancers team on proper inspection procedure practices. Assist in ensuring Enhancers area is inspection ready at all times. Provide Quality/Sanitation support for project commercialization.
  • Ensure proper construction procedures in Enhancers area are followed to meet site/KraftHeinz Food safety requirements. Takes appropriate steps to assure successful project startups.
  • Supports and follows proper plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for Hold/Release process for Enhancers products.
  • Collaborate with laboratory supervisor to maintaining/validation/continuous improvement of all laboratory testing and equipment for Enhancers products.
  • Have working knowledge and understanding of sanitation practices and procedures for the Enhancers department, and how they impact finished good products. Collaborate and/or colead sanitation projects as needed.
Expected Experience & Required Skills
  • Experience in a quality and/or technical leadership role or minimum 2 years of experience in operations/quality/technical (R/D).
  • Strong leadership, technical, communication and organizational skills required along with attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of quality systems, procedures, & policies helpful. Handle multiple assignments, develop work plans, & prioritize.
  • Detailed and action-oriented.
  • Knowledge of statistical processes is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written and verbal).
  • Planning and organizing skills.
  • Successful candidates must possess a positive focus toward solutions with emphasis on preventative pro-active measures and team-building.
Work Environment & Schedule

This position is considered a Manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment. Additionally, this role requires Typically, 1st shift, but must be able to work shifts, weekends, and all required overtime.

  • Frequent activity; upright stance, keyboard or text input. Combination of sedentary activity and activity on the production areas requiring force/movement.

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$89,800.00 - $112,200.00

Bonus:

This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
