Job summary

Southland Industries in Temple, Texas is seeking a seasoned purchasing professional to acquire services, supplies, and goods at competitive prices. You will prepare invitations to bid, solicit proposals, and manage purchase orders and related documentation in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Purchasing, 5+ years’ purchasing experience with 3+ years in construction, and strong negotiation, ERP/COINs skills, and ERP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Purchasing or related field.
• 5+ years’ purchasing experience, with minimum 3 years’ in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing practices and systems.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Strong knowledge of construction procurement.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ERP; COINs experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent ability to analyze and problem solve.

Responsibilities

• Researches market sources and vendors to locate and ensure most cost effective and competitive pricing for the purchase of products and services.
• Negotiates pricing with vendors as necessary.

• Provides direction to less-experienced Purchasing employees.

Position Summary

The purpose of the position is to acquire services, supplies and goods as required at a competitive price in a time efficient manner. Position is responsible for the submission of invitations to bid; review, analysis, and purchase of supplies, services, goods and equipment; review of methods of acquisition; and preparation of purchase orders and related documentation.
