Job summary

The University of Rochester is hiring a Psychiatric Technician to support the Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Nursing department. You will deliver care following an interdisciplinary treatment plan, participate in group interventions, and help coordinate services across the care continuum.

This full-time position requires an associate degree in psychology or sociology (or equivalent) and offers a wage range of $19.15–$25.85 per hour, with pay determined by experience and internal equity.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Psychology or Sociology required or
• RN Nursing School required with high school diploma
• Bachelor's degree in Human Services preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Delivers health care services to patients and their families according to the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
• Independently implements interdisciplinary treatment plan for an assigned group of patients, including group interventions.
• Revises and modifies plan in response to changes in patient and alterations in therapeutic approach.
• Participates in planning conferences.
• Integrates multidisciplinary approaches to complete patient assessments and coordinate health care services across the continuum.
• Demonstrates problem solving and critical thinking skills in developing health care interventions.
• Participates in various therapeutic activities, such as role playing, behavior modification, modeling, reality orientation, etc.
• Collaborates with patients, family members and the interdisciplinary treatment team to deliver quality services.
• Participates in ongoing staff development programs, workshops and seminars.
• Implements orientation and training for peer staff development, including the orientation and training of new Psychiatric Technicians.
• Participates in unit-based research and quality improvement, involving data collection and documentation of patient and family services.
• Records relevant data and reports data to appropriate staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Associate's degree in Psychology or Sociology

RN Nursing School (High School diploma + 2 years RN Nursing School)

Bachelor's degree in Human Services preferred

Compensation Range:

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Associate's degree in a Psychology or Sociology field and 2 years of recent Psychiatric Technician experience required or
• High School diploma and 2 years of RN Nursing School required
• Bachelor's degree Bachelor's in Human Services preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
