We are seeking a Senior Propulsion & Fuel Systems Engineer with strong FAA certification and safety expertise to lead the integration of advanced propulsion and fuel systems on next-generation aircraft programs. This role combines technical depth with leadership and regulatory responsibilities. It’s ideal for an engineer with hands-on experience in propulsion system design, integration, and FAA Part 23/25 certification who thrives in both the design office and on the shop floor.
Responsibilities
- Propulsion & Fuel Systems Integration: Drive the integration of turbofan engines and fuel systems into new aircraft designs; Define system-level requirements, design interfaces, and performance criteria; Collaborate with suppliers, ensuring designs are aligned with program needs and certification standards; Oversee the application of engine bleed air for anti-ice and pneumatic systems.
- Certification & Safety: Act as the technical lead for propulsion and fuel system certification activities; Partner with FAA representatives and DERs to manage compliance planning and resolution; Develop and review certification artifacts including compliance matrices, plans, reports, and safety assessments; Author and support safety analyses (FHA, FTA, SSA) in alignment with ARP4761.
- Testing & Evaluation: Contribute to ground and flight test campaigns for propulsion and fuel systems; Analyze test results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and implement corrective actions; Validate performance and ensure safety requirements are met; Create 3D models and engineering drawings using Siemens NX; Manage product data and design iterations through Teamcenter, Jira, and Confluence; Support continuous improvement efforts, introducing innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Propulsion Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years in propulsion system design and integration, including at least 5 years working with FAA certification programs (Part 23/25).
- Direct experience with system safety assessments and FAA compliance.
- Knowledge of fuel systems, propulsion controls, and engine bleed air integration.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter (MATLAB/Simulink a plus).
- Strong problem-solving ability, with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with MBSE tools and agile development practices.
- Familiarity with FADEC integration, nacelle design, and electrical load analysis.
- Proven project management and leadership background.
