Job summary

EEI is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead commissioning and building performance projects, partnering with clients and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. The role blends technical leadership, client engagement, and business development within a collaborative team.

Hybrid work environment with site visits and travel as needed; you will mentor staff, manage budgets, and drive project profitability while upholding EEI’s safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline.
  • Experience with building systems commissioning or related technical project delivery.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with planning, budgeting, scheduling, coordination, and client communication.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex commissioning and building performance projects from planning through closeout, delivering on scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships with high responsiveness and project satisfaction.
  • Drive project performance by managing risks, contracts, resources, budgets, and profitability.
  • Mentor, coach, and support technical staff while fostering collaboration.
  • Support proposals, develop client opportunities, and identify service needs.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to align objectives and outcomes.
  • Champion EEI's quality and safety standards in all deliverables.

As a Senior Project Manager, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality building performance and commissioning projects while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.   • Team Leadership: Mentor, coach, and support technical staff while fostering collaboration, professional growth, and effective project team performance.
  • Business Development: Contribute to the growth of the business by supporting proposals, developing client opportunities, and identifying additional service needs.
  • Strategic Coordination: Partner with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to align project objectives, resolve challenges, and drive successful outcomes.
  • Quality & Accountability: Champion EEI's standards for quality, safety, and technical excellence while ensuring deliverables meet client expectations and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, building sciences, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant technical experience may be considered.
  • Experience with building systems commissioning, building performance consulting, or related technical project delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving planning, budgeting, scheduling, coordination, and client communication.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and successfully manage multiple concurrent projects in a client-focused environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support client meetings, project site visits, and project delivery activities.
Preferred
  • Experience with MEP systems, controls, testing and balancing, energy auditing, energy modeling, construction, or commissioning services.
  • Experience supporting business development efforts, proposal development, and client relationship growth.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as PE, PMP, BCxA, AABC, NEBB, TABB, USGBC, PMI, or AEE.
Working Conditions:

Typical Travel: Up to 50% (travel to project sites throughout the region will be required)

Work Environment: Hybrid environment of office and in field for site visits. Site visits may include exposure to construction environments, uneven grounds, varying weather conditions, and field interactions.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform site inspections, which may include walking project sites, climbing ladders, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces when needed. Reasonable accommodation may be provided.

Operations Team Leader

Supervisory duties:

Technical leadership, mentoring, and project direction to Assistant Project Managers, Commissioning Engineers, and other project team members.

Partners with:

Works closely with EEI Associates, Directors, Project Managers, Technical Leads, Commissioning Engineers, and Operations staff. Collaborates regularly with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and facility personnel.

Key Representative to:

EEI clients, contractors, vendors and project stakeholders.
