Role Summary

Reports to: Construction Manager / Sr. Construction Manager (by assigned scope)

Experience: 4+ years

Position Overview

The Sr. Project Engineer is an owner/operator team member who owns the coordination, readiness, and follow-through for assigned scopes across Fleet’s data center projects. Reporting to the Construction Manager or Sr. Construction Manager who leads their assigned scope, and working closely with the Sr Construction Managers (CSA, MEP, and BTM/Substation/BESS), this role goes beyond tracking information — it actively drives closure across multiple parties, frames issues with recommended next steps, and keeps the owner team’s visibility decision-ready.

The Sr. Project Engineer is a force multiplier for the Construction Managers: reducing leadership blind spots, anticipating readiness and coordination risks before they impact the project, and mentoring Project Engineers. This role bridges project controls and construction management.

Key Responsibilities
Coordination & Readiness Ownership
  • Own Assigned Coordination: Independently own coordination, readiness, and action closure for meaningful scopes or workstreams, driving items to resolution across internal and external parties.
  • Decision & Commitment Tracking: Maintain owner decision, clarification, and commitment tracking; identify stalled items and highlight business impact of unresolved issues.
  • Review Workflow & Visibility: Manage review workflows and status visibility so owner decisions are timely and informed; identify and clear bottlenecks.
  • Reporting Leadership: Own recurring reporting for assigned responsibilities, presenting clear status, trends, and open risks to leadership.
Risk, Procurement & Turnover
  • Risk Anticipation: Anticipate coordination, turnover, and readiness risks before they impact the project, and bring them forward with context and recommended actions.
  • Procurement & OFCI: Maintain visibility into long-lead equipment status, delivery risk, and OFCI readiness for assigned scopes.
  • Commissioning & Turnover Readiness: Independently manage readiness tracking for assigned scopes and surface gaps affecting commissioning, turnover, and operations.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Manage coordination across multiple stakeholders, adapting communication to decision needs, and act as a trusted owner point of contact for assigned scopes.
  • Mentorship: Mentor Project Engineers and improve controls and coordination discipline across the team.
  • Process Improvement: Improve reporting structure, tracker design, and coordination workflows for the broader project team.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, OR equivalent practical owner-side field/project experience.
  • 4+ years of construction, project engineering, or project controls experience, including time representing an owner/operator or developer preferred.
  • Proven ability to independently drive coordination and follow-through across multiple stakeholders on large-scale, fast-tracked projects.
  • Strong judgment on escalation, prioritization, and issue framing.
  • Advanced proficiency with Procore (or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on data center or mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members or improving project controls processes.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter comfortable in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
Growth & Progression

Adds ownership of coordination outcomes, mentorship, and process improvement to the PE foundation, and prepares strong performers to move into direct field accountability as a Construction Manager.
