Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to join our Transportation team. This role focuses on project and client management with autonomy on project tasks and direct impact within a growing organization.

You will manage schedules, assist in estimating and marketing, prepare engineering agreements, and serve as Engineer of Record on select projects. The position supports business development and involves site visits and client coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Traffic Engineering.
• PE license is required.
• Experience with DOT, county, or local agency projects preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with engineers, technicians, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager and/or project engineer with autonomy for project-related tasks and as a designated client contact.
• Manage project schedules and the timely completion of projects.
• Assist in the coordination of estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering agreements for projects.
• Provide street and highway design engineering analysis and computations and will be the Engineer of Record on some projects.
• Prepare or modify reports, specifications, plans, studies, permits, and designs for various projects.
• May delegate and/or supervise the work of other engineers’ activities.
• Actively participates in supporting business development efforts, attends client and organizational meetings, and makes presentations in support of the client and projects.
• Visits construction sites to monitor progress and perform other duties per contract documents

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Project Manager who is looking to hone their project and client management skills while providing and making a direct impact on an already established, growing organization!

What You’ll Do

• Serves as project manager and/or project engineer with autonomy for project-related tasks and as a designated client contact. May have project management responsibilities on multiple projects, depending on assignment.
• Responsible for project schedules and the timely completion of projects.
• Assists in the coordination of estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
• Assists in the preparation of engineering agreements for projects.
• Provides street and highway design engineering analysis and computations and will be the Engineer of Record on some projects.
• Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, studies, permits, and designs for various projects.
• May delegate and/or supervise the work of other engineers’ activities.
• Actively participates in supporting business development efforts, attends client and organizational meetings, and makes presentations in support of the client and projects.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Civil, Transportation, or Traffic Engineer program
• 8-20 years of transportation or traffic engineering experience
• Experience working on and with DOT, county, and/or local agency projects/clients is preferred
• Licensed Professional Engineer, PE
• Ability to manage and collaborate with Engineers, Technicians, Clients, and Administrators
• Ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously
• Working experience with Microsoft Office, MicroStation, CONNECT, and ORD preferred

Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.

Illinois Pay Transparency

$110,000—$150,000 USD
