Job summary

LANXESS Deutschland GmbH in East Hanover, NJ is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee capital and non-capital improvement projects across our chemical manufacturing operations.

You will manage all project phases from concept through design and commissioning, develop budget plans, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. Strong leadership in EHS/PSM, MOCs/PHAs, and cross-functional collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of project engineering experience in chemical manufacturing.
• Ability to independently manage small to large capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of EHS&S requirements and PSM.
• Experience performing MOCs, PHAs, Hazard studies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of ISO quality systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage capital and non-capital projects.
• Lead all project phases from concept through submission.
• Develop annual capital budget/plan and track progress.
• Ensure projects meet time and cost targets.
• Perform design reviews, procurement support, and P&IDs.
• Track spend and progress, report status.
• Mentor staff on Project Engineering and Process Safety.
• Support manufacturing planning and production activities.

Job Highlights

• Overseeand manageboth capital projects as well as other non-capital improvement projects
• Responsible for all phases of project management: project concept development, preliminary, design, development of project cost estimate, develop project plan, assist in the project justification development and submit proposal
• Assistin the development of annual capital budget/plan and multi-year plan and reports against progress versus plan during the course of the year
• For capital projects, manage the projects according in accordance with Lanxess Capital project management requirements (planning, submission approval, tracking/reporting)
• For all approved projects, complete approved projects to achieve desired result within budgeted time and cost
• Oversee all aspects of execution including:
  • design review(including any required safety reviews, Hazops, etc.)
  • procurement (such preparation and support of RFQs, submission of requisitions, approval of invoices, etc.)
  • develops, reviews, revises and field verifies as required P&IDs, bids
  • installation
  • commissioning
  • start-up
• Track spend and progress and regularly report status as needed/required
• Develop, reviewand implementMOCs as needed
• Mentorother staff with regard to Project Engineering and Process Safety Management
• Supportmanufacturing strategic planning to ensure manufacturing capabilities are able to meet current and planned business needs and directly oversees tactical execution of these plans
• Support production activities to achieve targeted volumes, productivity and cost performance

Experience / Skills

• Bachelor degree in Engineering
• Minimum 10 years Project Engineering experience in the chemical manufacturing industry
• Must be able to independently manage small to large capital projects
• Working knowledge of EHS&S requirements andPSM (Process Safety management)
• Experience performing MOCs, PHAs, Hazardstudies
• DCS, PLC experience (desired)
• Lean Manufacturing experience
• Continuous improvement skills leading LEAN, SIXSIGMA, root cause analysis initiatives and efforts desired
• Exhibits strong safety leadership and is competent in the areas of contractor management (required)
• Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word Power Point (required)
• Technical / mechanical skills (required)
• SAP knowledge (desired)
• Knowledge of ISO quality systems (desired)

• Compensation: We offer competitive compensation packages, inclusive of a global bonus program. The established pay range for this position is $94,700 to $157,800. Please note, the actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
