Job summary

YMCA of the USA is seeking a results‑oriented leader to drive member experience at a Jacksonville branch. You will oversee Membership, Family Programs/KidZone, and Sports departments, ensuring excellent customer service while meeting community needs.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of management experience in a YMCA or similar nonprofit. You will lead revenue generation, budgeting, staff development, and cross‑department collaboration to advance the Y’s mission.

  • Experience defining and refining sales processes, policies, and staff development.

Job Description
Leads overall member experience in own branch by driving sales, retaining members, and creating an overall exceptional member experience. Oversee the membership, family programs/Kidzone, and sports departments to ensure the highest level of customer service to meet members and community needs. Where needed, it also serves as the Advisory Board liaison and direct contact when the Executive Director/Associate Executive Director is unavailable.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, sports, recreation, a related field, or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other not-for-profit agency.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including revenue generation, volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, refine, and implement sales processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Experience managing staff and contributing to the development of department strategies.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and collaboration skills. Must pass Level 2 Background Screening. Essential Functions
  • Directs and supervises year–round program activities to meet YMCA objectives and promotes YMCA core values. Expands family programs and youth sports within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Develops and directs high-quality member engagement strategies and programs which support assigned branch’s mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Maximizes revenue growth for own branch through the identification, development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of membership growth and service programs.
  • Cultivates, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets.
  • In conjunction with direct manager, establishes long-range plans for the expansion of engagement strategies and related to membership in harmony with overall YMCA objectives.
  • Develops, directs, and analyzes programs and retention strategies for maximum member satisfaction and retention.
  • Identifies best practices and process improvements in attracting and retaining members.
  • Establishes an environment that ensures all members and experience team members are aligned with goals, objectives, and association values.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, coaches, and develop employees. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Ensures that KidZone always has adequate staff, securing substitutes when necessary. Develops and implements structured plan for KidZone.
  • Serves as a member of the Association Operations Team, supports the overall objectives of the YMCA, and participates in all special events and activities.
  • Recommends adjustments to the budget to ensure balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
  • Collaborates with community resources to educate, profile, and build relationships.
  • Apply to YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations, and child abuse prevention.
  • Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests.
  • Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness of facilities.
  • Demonstrates compliance with YMCA Child Abuse Prevention and Abuse Risk Management policies.
  • Other duties assigned by your supervisor.
