Job summary

FleetPride in Grapevine, TX seeks an experienced manufacturing leader reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Transformation to manage resources for assembling commercial trailer axles and heavy-duty wheel-end products.

You will drive Lean initiatives, oversee budgets, mentor staff, and align manufacturing plans with cost, productivity, and quality goals while ensuring safety and EH&S compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing or operations.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge; Six Sigma Tools would be beneficial.
  • No relocation benefit; candidates must reside in the immediate geographical area.

  • Establish and maintain communications between all levels of plant personnel to assure a positive work environment.
  • Direct development and implementation of cost, productivity, and strategic manufacturing programs using Lean principles.
  • Analyze department capacity constraints and develop alternative plans to improve methods and layouts.
  • Recommend new equipment expenditures to align capacity with plant objectives.
  • Work with Demand Planning and scheduling to optimize factory throughput.
  • Identify metrics for key business drivers and reinforce knowledge of them.

Job description

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Transformation, this position is responsible for managing all resources involved in the assembly of commercial trailer axles, commercial trailer components, and related heavy-duty wheel-end products.

In addition this position is responsible for

  • Supporting financial, customer, quality and employee objectives
  • Maintaining manufacturing timelines, developing and implementing plans to enhance productivity, cost improvement objectives, and nurturing employee development
  • Driving the implementation within the department of key corporate initiatives such as Lean and EH&S.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer FleetPride company and plant policies
  • Maintain effective intra and inter departmental communications
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain active communications between all levels of plant personnel to assure a positive work environment.
  • Direct the development and implementation of cost, productivity, and strategic manufacturing programs consistent with plant objectives and using Lean principles.
  • Analyze department capacity restrictions and develop alternative plans to improve methods and layouts
  • Recommend new equipment expenditures to align capacity with plant objectives.
  • Work closely with Demand Planning and scheduling to optimize factory throughput.
  • Identify metrics for key business drivers and reinforce knowledge of them throughout the operations.
  • Implement process/quality improvement and cost reduction
  • Effectively manage the departmental budget, including tracking of capital equipment.
  • Maintain departmental tooling and equipment, including the provision of new/replacement hand tools etc.
  • Manage plant manpower and capacity planning.
  • Communicate and enforce product quality standards and review team/individual quality performance through the analysis of relevant data and metrics.
  • Provide on-going mentoring, coaching and development of direct reports to instill a team-focused and quality culture within the department.
  • Complete annual performance evaluation/mid-year progress reviews for all direct reports.
  • Identify opportunities for development and support employees through on-going coaching/counseling, as required.
  • Pursue and implement the FleetPride code of ethics and values
  • Provide leadership with FleetPride’s management system for environment, health, safety (EH&S).
  • Maintain a positive commitment to the prevention of pollution and protection of the environment following environmental procedures, work instructions and other operational controls.
  • Actively participate in the quality improvement process.
  • Perform other duties, as required.
Desired Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
