Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology’s ABC News team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help deliver world-class news experiences. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to ship high-quality features for audiences.

You’ll lead with Swift, Xcode, and Apple frameworks, mentor peers, and own major components from design through production in a fast-paced, inclusive environment. This onsite role sits in New York, NY four days a week and offers a competitive compensation package

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Deep Swift, Apple Frameworks, and Xcode knowledge.
  • Experience leading a software team.
  • Experience with backend systems and web services.
  • Strong code quality standards and feedback culture.
  • Experience with AVPlayer and video playback preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop feature-rich native iOS, tvOS, and visionOS apps for Apple devices.
  • Identify growth areas and develop new collaboration systems.
  • Write clear, well-tested, performant code.
  • Collaborate with developers to build sustainable, well-architected solutions.
  • Guide an agile team through the full lifecycle of app development.

Job Summary:

The team responsible for building world-class news experiences for ABC News is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Development of feature-rich native iOS, tvOS and visionOS applications for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro.
  • Identify areas for growth within the team processes and develop new systems for collaboration.
  • Write clear, well-tested, performant code.
  • Work with other developers to create sustainable, well-architected solutions that are built to last.
  • Manage production issues and solve novel problems.
  • Guide an agile team participating in the full lifecycle of application development, including being the key point of contact for entire features.
  • Mentor associate, mid-level, and senior team members and support peers through code review and pair programming
  • Create opportunities to learn and teach others.
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Minimum and Preferred. Inclusive of Licenses/Certs (include functional experience as well as behavioral attributes and/or leadership capabilities)

  • Deep understanding of Swift, Apple Frameworks, and the Xcode ecosystem.
  • Experience leading a team, including delegating responsibility and balancing competing priorities.
  • Experience integrating with backend systems, web services, and third-party software
  • Hold high standards of quality for both the codebases you contribute to and the applications you build.
  • A growth mindset towards learning, experience mentoring others, and a desire to give and receive feedback.
  • Experience composing and presenting thoughtful and implementable solutions to a variety of stakeholders (technical and non-technical)
  • Experience with AVPlayer and video playback strongly preferred
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,700 - $199,400 per year and in Glendale, CA is $141,900 - $190,300. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
