Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Sr Product Software Engineer to advance Rights and Avails Management supply chain apps, owning design and implementation of medium-sized projects.

Qualifications

Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney’s EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.

Job Summary:

As a Sr Product Software Engineer, you will play a meaningful role working across Rights and Avails Management supply chain applications, building and supporting capabilities, and taking ownership of the technical design and implementation of medium-sized projects and features.

In this role, you will focus on the systems that govern and track the rights & availability of TWDC media for use in 1st party products such as Disney+ and 3rd party digital media sales. You will collaborate closely with multiple internal and external teams to enable robust data integration capabilities.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
  • Maintain a deep understanding of our core systems and how they interact with upstream and downstream dependencies. Contribute and review code, set standards, and work with engineers to ensure product and design specifications are met.

  • Responsible for fundamental platform performance, scalability, and resiliency. Influence and contribute to department technical strategy and planning. Research, learn, and evangelize widespread adoption of new technologies

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

  • Lead cross-functional troubleshooting of complex issues as needed. Any other duties needed to help achieve Business Objectives

Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a software engineering role.

  • Strong expertise in SQL, including database objects, relational database concepts, stored procedures, query optimization, and data modeling.

  • Proficient in Java and JVM languages, with hands-on experience in Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Integration, and other Spring frameworks.

  • Solid experience across the full software development lifecycle, including continuous integration, unit and integration testing, functional testing, code reviews, and documentation.

  • Experience designing, building, and integrating APIs.

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using React.js, TypeScript, CSS3, and modern front-end development practices to deliver high-quality user experiences.

  • Knowledge of OAuth, authentication, authorization, and access management.

  • Practical experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, messaging, VPC,Cloudformation/Terraform, and related infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of data integration concepts and workflows.

  • Experience with event-driven architecture (EDA) and publish/subscribe messaging patterns(e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS).

  • Experience in monitoring and maintaining application health and performance.

  • Skilled in applying object-oriented and functional programming principles to solve real-world software engineering problems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience in media distribution.

  • Comfort and experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Co-pilot, Amazon Q Developer or Claude Code.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a team environment.

  • Effective time management, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.

  • Familiarity and experience with Agile methodologies.

  • Experience collaborating with teams located across the globe.

  • Strong curiosity about how Disney delivers the Magic and a desire to be a part of it.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles is $141,900 to $190,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
