Plug is seeking a Sr. Product Manager, Payments to own the payment rails and financial throughput powering the platform. You will partner with engineering and finance to ensure high-assurance, high-value transactions and scalable fintech workflows in a hands-on, autonomous role.

You will own KYC/KYB onboarding, treasury and fee management, and work closely with SVP Product & Technology. This is an onsite, senior IC role in Santa Monica, CA.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product management experience in fintech/payments.
• Fluency with payments concepts such as money transmitter licenses.
• Strong quantitative thinking and ability to translate complex financial logic into UX.

Plug is an automotive fintech startup building the marketplace for electric vehicles. Consumers, dealers, and commercial partners trade in, sell, and auction used EVs through a platform built exclusively for electric, with nothing adapted from legacy automotive.

Consumers can get an instant cash offer in minutes, backed by data-driven pricing, battery state-of-health analysis, with pickup, payment, and title transfer handled end-to-end. Franchise and independent dealers across the United States bid in real time on inventory sourced directly from these consumers, dealers, and commercial partners. The Opportunity

We are looking for a Sr. Product Manager, Payments to own the payment rails and financial throughput that power Plug. Our cash-flow conversion cycle is a core strategic asset. The payment infrastructure has to match that speed. Transactions run primarily over ACH and average roughly $25,000, so correctness and reconciliation at high dollar value matter more than payment volume. You will report to the SVP of Product and Technology, with the VP Finance as your primary internal stakeholder.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You will work in close partnership with engineering, jointly owning Plug's payment rails. You will operate with high autonomy and a direct line to company outcomes.

You will be stepping into a small, talented team with real momentum and a platform built exclusively for EVs. The financial infrastructure is yours to build right.

What You’ll Do

• Define requirements for the payment rails upgrade (orchestration and treasury platforms).

• Own the financial logic of every transaction, including positive and negative equity, title handling by state, consignment flows, and fee management, with clean accounting throughout.

• Own the KYC/KYB onboarding experience, mitigating fraud risk.

• Build reliable financial throughput that the finance team can trust and that scales with transaction volume.

• Partner closely with engineering on backend systems, translating complex financial requirements into clear specifications and a clean user experience.

• Partner with finance, operations and data teams to ensure every transaction is accounted for correctly and the cash-flow conversion cycle is fully supported.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years in product management, with experience at fintech or neobank-style companies where you implemented financial or payments platforms.

• Fluency with concepts such as FBO accounts and money transmitter licenses.

• A highly quantitative way of thinking, paired with the ability to translate complex financial logic into a clean user experience.

• Comfortable partnering deeply with engineering on backend systems without needing to own infrastructure decisions yourself.

• Hands-on, shipped experience building with AI tools. As part of the process, we will ask you to show us something you have built.

• Builder mentality: you act, you do not just plan, and you thrive in an environment where roles are fluid and the lines between product, engineering, and design are blurring.

• Strong communication skills, able to write clearly and work across finance, operations, and engineering.

• Authorized to work in the US for any employer.

• Prior experience in automotive, EV, marketplace, or automotive finance is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary: $180,000 to $200,000

Salary ranges reflect independent, third-party benchmarking against national compensation data. Where an individual's actual offer falls within that range depends on a combination of factors, including relevant experience, specialized skills, training and qualifications, current business needs, and prevailing market conditions. Ranges are reviewed periodically and may be adjusted to reflect changing market conditions.

This full-time position is based in Sawtelle (between Santa Monica and West Los Angeles) and is an in-person role.
