Job description

Keystone advises technology leaders, Fortune 100 companies, their legal counsel, and governments on business, economic, litigation, and regulatory strategy in relation to these innovations and competitive eco-systems. We operate globally from offices in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Dubai, and Washington, D.C.

We’re growing quickly and looking for a Sr. Product Engineer to define, build, and scale the internal products that power how Keystone operates. As the company grows its business lines and geographic reach, the ability to define and support operating models for our practices and employees is vital to our ongoing success.

About the Sr. Product Engineer Role

We are developing the Keystone Operating System, focused on leveraging the company’s wealth of experience and scaling our ability to leverage and share knowledge and experience through processes and technology. This role sits at the intersection of operating processes, tools, and data, focused on redefining how the firm delivers the right resources and tools for client engagements, professional development and operational processes.

These products support areas such as knowledge management, professional development, resource planning and engagement staffing, and operations by creating the vision and delivering a feature set to support how Keystone operates and scales its collective experience and knowledge to continuously improve our effectiveness and efficiency of client outcomes and employee experience.

You will take ambiguous business problems across these areas and shape them into products and systems that are scalable, reliable, and measurable. Deliverables will include product vision, definition of feature sets to deliver standard operating models, including resources and technical tools to simplify discovery and use of resources, managing a contribution model from employees for feedback and continuous improvement of our products and processes, evaluation of internally developed versus commercially available products to deliver and evolve with product vision. This is a hands‑on role for someone comfortable moving between ambiguity and execution, defining problems, prototyping and testing solutions, diving into data, making choices with imperfect data and then responding dynamically as we learn, and driving outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Execution
  • Own products and workflows end-to-end, from problem definition through delivery, dev ops and iteration
  • Translate ambiguous business needs into clear product requirements, system designs, and prioritized backlogs
  • Work directly with consulting and operational leaders, product managers, technical program managers, and engineers to design and deliver scalable solutions
  • Contribute directly to implementation by developing prototypes, targeted features, and workflows through hands‑on coding of internal tools and configuration and deployments of pilots of external products
Process Understanding & Operational Impact
  • Engage directly with stakeholders to understand how work gets done, how processes are currently documented and how practices share insights and learnings
  • Identify inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities across workflows
  • Design solutions that simplify processes, improve automation and provide single sources of information for relevant information and knowledge resources
  • Ensure solutions are adopted and delivering measurable value in day‑to‑day operations and employee development
Data & Problem Solving
  • Dive into data to understand system behavior, user activity, and performance
  • Define and track metrics that measure product success and operational impact
  • Use code or queries to investigate issues, validate solutions, and support root cause analysisDevelop telemetry to monitor use and performance of products and tools
Roadmap & Prioritization
  • Contribute to roadmap prioritization grounded in business impact, data, and user needs
  • Clearly articulate tradeoffs, expected outcomes, and success metrics
  • Partner with stakeholders to align on priorities and bring visibility to what matters most
Systems Thinking & Continuous Improvement
  • Design solutions that work across systems and reduce fragmentation
  • Identify opportunities to introduce automation and AI to improve efficiency
  • Improve systems based on usage patterns, feedback, and evolving needs
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related field
  • 5-8 years of experience in product management, software development, or similar roles
  • Experience building or improving internal tools, workflows, or operational systems and evaluation of third‑party software products
  • Strong ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
  • Hands‑on experience working with data and writing code or queries (e.g., SQL, Python, JavaScript)
  • Experience working in cross‑functional environments with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence decisions
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and driving structure
