Onward Search is hiring a Senior Product Designer for a remote permanent role with PST hours, supporting end-to-end UX for a family-friendly kids product experience. This position works at the intersection of product, engineering, and research to strengthen onboarding, core browsing, and retention-driving features across Android-based OS and web-based experiences.
Based in San Francisco, CA with a hybrid remote setup (work location: San Francisco, CA 94114), the role is anchored in user needs, usability, and building exceptional experiences for both children and families. The compensation range is USD 125,000 - 175,000 per year.
What you’ll do
- Report to the Director of Product Design and lead the end-to-end design process, with a strong focus on user needs, usability, and exceptional experiences for children and families.
- Design and prototype intuitive Android-based operating system UI/UX, including navigation, settings, parental controls, and play modes.
- Create web-based experiences that help users manage accounts, preferences, and device settings outside of the product ecosystem.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other stakeholders to define requirements, align on objectives, and deliver iterative design solutions.
- Plan and conduct user research, usability testing, and design validation to surface insights, identify pain points, and continuously improve the experience.
- Drive the creation, maintenance, and evolution of scalable design systems and interaction patterns across products and platforms.
What you bring
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or a similar role.
- A strong portfolio showing expertise in interaction design, visual design, and user experience for consumer-facing digital products.
- Proficiency with tools such as Figma, Sketch, or equivalent design and prototyping tools.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, including the ability to articulate design decisions and advocate for user-centered solutions.
- Proven experience creating, owning, and evolving design systems (not only working within existing frameworks).
- Experience designing joyful, playful, innovative, and visually engaging consumer experiences.
- Family-focused and youth-oriented domain experience (examples include children’s experiences, youth brands, wellness, EdTech, gaming, entertainment, or other consumer products with strong visual identity) is highly desirable.
- Strong collaboration, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a polished portfolio.
