Job summary

The Senior Product Design Engineer will design and develop precision products from concept through production release, balancing mechanical design, analysis, prototype evaluation, and direct collaboration with customers and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Progressive experience designing mechanical products through production release.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, detailed drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and change control.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, interfaces, and design verification.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into product specifications and design concepts.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, production drawings, BOMs, and design docs.
• Perform engineering calculations, material selection, tolerance analysis, and risk assessments.
• Design components considering temperature, pressure, sealing, interfaces, and manufacturability.
• Develop prototype and validation plans, evaluate results, and refine designs to meet specs.
• Lead or contribute to design reviews and resolve technical issues across functions.
• Support new product introduction, engineering changes, and troubleshooting.
• Provide guidance to less experienced engineers and improve reusable practices.

Senior Product Design Engineer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a manufacturer of temperature sensors, compression seal fittings, and cable and harness assemblies.

Position Summary

Design and develop precision products and custom engineered assemblies from concept through production release. This hands-on role combines detailed mechanical design, engineering analysis, prototype evaluation, and collaboration with customers and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements and application conditions into product specifications and detailed design concepts.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, production drawings, bills of materials, and design documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations, material selection, tolerance analysis, and design risk assessments.
• Design components and assemblies with appropriate consideration of temperature, pressure, sealing, interfaces, and manufacturability as applicable.
• Develop prototype and validation plans, evaluate test results, and refine designs to meet performance requirements.
• Lead or contribute to design reviews and resolve technical issues with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers.
• Support new product introduction, engineering changes, and troubleshooting of production or field performance concerns.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and improve design practices and reusable engineering knowledge.

Proposed Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Progressive experience designing mechanical products or precision engineered assemblies through production release.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, detailed drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering change control.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, mechanical interfaces, and design verification.
• Ability to independently manage technical work, document decisions, and collaborate across functions.

Preferred Background

Experience with temperature sensors, compression seals, pressure or vacuum interfaces, and custom industrial products is preferred. Familiarity with simulation tools, design for manufacturability, and customer-facing technical discussions is also valued.
