Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a scientist with lab expertise to join our Growth, Protection, and Separation team. You will collaborate with R&D, sales, and regulatory functions to develop and validate application workflows, and support customers globally in Lifesciences, Pharma, and clinical markets.

The role requires delivering training, creating application notes, and participating in tech discussions to ensure product success for diverse customer segments. Travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying technical ideas clearly at all levels.
  • Strong technical writing to produce procedures, notes and white papers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans with commercial managers and sales teams to set up customer sites for application development.
  • Provide application support to end-customers and internal teams (regulatory, R&D, customer service, product management).
  • Build and cultivate KOL advisers and testers in Lifesciences/academia, Pharma/Biotech, and clinical markets globally.
  • Lead lab or customer-site work to develop application protocols for workflows.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create application notes, webinars, and tips for product applications.

Location/Division Specific Information: This opening is in the Growth, Protection, and Separation Business Unit within the Laboratory Products Division.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with R&D and other members of the team as well as customers and represent the products with the larger scientific community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement plans working with internal commercial managers & sales teams to the end goal of setting up customer sites for application development.
  • Provide application support and expertise to both end-customers and internal functions (regulatory affairs, R&D, customer service and product management).
  • Build and cultivate a steady flow of KOL advisers and new product testers in Lifesciences / academia, Pharma/Biotech, and clinical markets globally.
  • Lead innovative work in the lab/factory or with the customer’s lab to develop application protocols for specific workflows.
  • Collaborate with the downstream marketing team to build engaging content (application notes, webinars, tips/tricks) around applications of our products for different customer segments.
  • Provide valuable feedback from end users on current issues / limitations and relay the information to product management and quality groups.
  • Guide customer product performance expectations as an SME, participate in tech discussions, answer queries, and attend customer/sales meetings.
  • Lead training sessions and provide expertise to assist customers using centrifugation products and accessories to ensure success for the specific application of choice.
  • Work with and train regional sales managers domestically and globally across Thermo Fisher.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in any STEM field or equivalent experience (advanced degree preferred)
  • Work experience in Biotechnology, Lifesciences, CRO or similar
  • Hands-on and theoretical knowledge of electrochemistry products.
  • Strong oral skills to clearly express technical ideas in a simplified way and communicate well at all levels internally and externally.
  • Strong technical writing skills to write technical procedures, application notes, white papers and maintain meticulous experimental documentation.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Travel requirements – 15-20%.
