Key job responsibilities
  • Own end‑to‑end operational workflow design for manufacturing and repair processes, from material receipt through final product delivery.
  • Develop and implement material movement strategies that optimize flow in and around automated assembly processes.
  • Design operational processes that balance throughput, quality, cost, and safety requirements.
  • Create process maps, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and workflow documentation that enable scalable operations.
  • Investigate and resolve complex operational problems, implementing effective and efficient solutions.
  • Make strategic decisions on process architecture with implications for program deliverables and long‑term operational excellence.
  • Innovate material handling solutions that integrate with automated assembly systems, robotics, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Design material flow patterns that minimize handling, reduce cycle time, and eliminate waste.
  • Develop strategies for managing work‑in‑process (WIP) inventory, buffer locations, and material staging areas.
  • Partner with automation teams to ensure material movement workflows align with equipment capabilities and constraints.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize material flow.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and mechanization of material handling processes.
  • Lead high‑impact, large‑scale, cross‑functional projects involving manufacturing engineering, facilities, automation, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Facilitate teamwork and lead discussions to unpack and decompose complex operational challenges.
  • Build cross‑functional support by demonstrating ownership and maintaining a strong backbone when presenting unpopular positions.
  • Influence design teams to adopt Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles that enable efficient material flow.
  • Partner with suppliers and equipment vendors to develop material handling solutions and establish operational requirements.
  • Communicate operational strategies clearly to senior leadership, providing data‑driven recommendations.
Basic qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
