Job summary

Continental Carbon Company is seeking a Senior Process Control Engineer - Corporate to oversee instrumentation and process controls across facilities. You will lead I&C projects, develop control strategies, and support DCS systems with a focus on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree required (Chemical or Electrical).
  • DCS experience with Emerson DeltaV is a must.
  • Experience with PLCs and System Interfaces is a must.
  • Experience with OSIsoft PI Enterprise Server is strongly recommended.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Excel is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct instrumentation and process controls activities company wide.
  • Lead for applicable capital projects and as project manager/engineer for I&C projects.
  • Provide technical support to plants for instrumentation, controls, and DCS issues.
  • Develop standard control strategies and I&C hardware/software standards.
  • Develop DCS project schedules and manpower requirements.
  • Oversee plant DCS systems and procurement specifications for DCS components.
  • Develop effective control strategies, logic, and HMI graphics.
  • Ensure compliance with Management of Change protocols for DCS programming.
  • Assist with turning around planning related to instrumentation and controls.
  • Build relationships with I&E contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Senior Process Control Engineer - Corporate

Reports to: Vice President of Operations
Salary Grade: Exempt

Main Function
  • Managing and directing instrumentation and process controls activities company wide.
  • Function as discipline lead for applicable capital projects.
  • Function as project manager/engineer for I&C capital projects.
  • Provide technical support to plants for instrumentation, controls, and DCS issues.
  • Direct the development of standard control strategies, as well as standards for I&C hardware, software, and systems.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist in troubleshooting of process controls, DCS, and field instrument issues.
  • Ensure that instrumentation and DCS installation drawings, data sheets and specifications, are in full compliance with recognized industry and safety standards, as well as applicable CCC Engineering Standards.
  • Assist in the technical development of plant project P&ID's and PFD's.
  • Development of Engineering Standards for instrumentation, control strategies, DCS installation, HMI interfaces, and External Systems communications (e.g., PLC's).
  • Manage and maintain Central Data Historian System, including interfaces at each plant.
  • Development of DCS project schedules and manpower requirements.
  • Provide requirements specifications for procurement of DCS components and hardware.
  • Provide oversight for management of plant DCS Systems.
  • Development of effective control strategies, logic, and HMI Graphics.
  • Ensure compliance with all Management of Change protocols for changes to DCS programing.
  • Assist Maintenance Superintendent in developing plant I&E Technicians skills and capabilities in the operation and maintenance of plant DCS.
  • Maintain a high degree of reliability in all controls and DCS components.
  • Develop and implement project(s) to upgrade, maintain, and improve reliability of plant DCS Systems.
  • Assist with annual turnaround planning as required and as it relates to instrumentation and controls.
  • Respond when and where needed during emergency downtime situations or when problems occur.
  • Build and enhance relationships with I&E contractors, vendors, suppliers to improve access to needed parts/support to improve plant reliability.
Characteristics

  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education And Experience
  • Engineering degree required, preferably Chemical or Electrical.
  • 10 - 15 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience with NFPA/NEC codes, as well as HAZOP procedures is a plus.
  • DCS experience with Emerson DeltaV is a must.
  • Experience with PLCs and System Interfaces is a must.
  • Experience with OSISoft PI Enterprise Server is strongly recommended.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Excel is a must.
  • Plant experience is strongly recommended.
  • Project Management skills are strongly recommended.
  • Extensive computer troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Experience with and working knowledge of Ethernet Networking components and TCP/IP protocol.
