Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

At the heart of Defining Possible is our commitment to missions. In rapidly changing global security environments, Northrop Grumman brings informed insights and secure technological solutions to enable strategic objectives. We’re looking for innovators who can help us keep building on our wide portfolio of secure, affordable, integrated, and multi-domain systems and technologies that fuel those missions. By joining in our shared mission, we will support yours by expanding your personal network and developing skills, whether you are new to the field or an industry thought leader. At Northrop Grumman, you will have the resources, support, and team to do some of the best work of your career.

Northrop Grumman’s Corporate Sector's Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO) is seeking a Senior Principal Technical Services Project Management to support IT Infrastructure and Operations (ITIO) organization. The selected candidate will act as a Special Projects Execution Lead to drive coordination, governance, and disciplined delivery across a portfolio of complex, cross‑functional initiatives. In this highly visible role, you will own portfolio cadence, reporting, and communications, while coaching ITIO teams and vendors to strengthen delivery rigor, risk management, and operational readiness.

This position directly supports CIDO and ITIO leadership in achieving critical cost, schedule, and performance objectives. The ITIO organization is managing a rapidly expanding portfolio of complex, cross‑functional initiatives that demand consistent coordination, strong governance, and disciplined execution. To meet this need, we are establishing a dedicated Execution & Coordination Lead to provide structured oversight for high‑priority efforts, including Dell Transformational License Agreement (TLA) utilization, Broadcom Enterprise Agreement (EA) utilization, client/server patching improvements, and critical operational initiatives. The initial focus of this role will be driving utilization, communication, coordination, reporting, and planning related to the Dell TLA and Broadcom EAs.

This role will own cadence, reporting, and communications across ITIO, vendors, and stakeholders, ensuring that resources are allocated to the highest‑value work, risks and issues are actively managed, and changes are implemented predictably and transparently.

In addition, this role will accelerate delivery and strengthen rigor across all ITIO efforts, serving as the central coordinator for ITIO strategic initiatives as they arise. The Senior Principal Technical Services Project Management role will partner with our Governance and Strategy organization to standardize lightweight project approaches and agile practices, and will provide leadership in status reporting, risk management, and dependency visibility. Through these responsibilities, the role will reduce operational risk, improve cost efficiency, and increase overall delivery reliability. Rather than duplicating the work of the Project Management organization, this position will complement it by applying execution discipline within ITIO’s operational context and ensuring that ITIO’s strategic and operational initiatives are delivered consistently and with measurable business value.

This is a virtual/remote role, however the preferred candidate will work eastern standard hours and preferably live on the east coast.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Governance & Reporting
    • Serve as the central point for project, program, and operational initiative tracking and reporting within IT Infrastructure and Operations (ITIO), bringing consistent rigor to the management and oversight of initiatives.
    • Establish and maintain portfolio‑level dashboards and status reporting to provide leadership with clear visibility into progress, risks, issues, and dependencies across ITIO initiatives.
    • Lead and coordinate Project Management Reviews (PMRs) and other recurring governance forums, ensuring status, issues, and decision needs are communicated to stakeholders in a timely and concise manner.
  • Risk, Issue, and Dependency Management
    • Identify, track, and drive resolution of risks, issues, and opportunities across the ITIO portfolio, including escalation and coordination with CIDO and Global Operations as appropriate.
    • Ensure clear ownership, due dates, and follow‑through on risk and issue mitigations, including cross‑functional dependencies and vendor‑delivered work.
  • Operational Readiness & Change Management
    • Engage with other CIDO service line teams to plan, deploy, and integrate new capabilities and initiatives that impact ITIO, with a focus on operational readiness, supportability, and change management.
    • Partner with HR and Communications to plan and execute communication and change‑management activities for major ITIO initiatives.
  • Technical / Tooling Skills
    • Experience with enterprise PM/Agile tooling (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, Clarity, ServiceNow, or equivalent) for portfolio tracking, backlog management, and reporting.
    • Familiarity with IT infrastructure and operations domains (e.g., endpoint management, networking, cloud platforms, identity & access management, observability/monitoring).
    • Experience with ITIL/ITSM practices (incident, problem, change, and configuration management) and how they intersect with project and program delivery.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance
    • Experience designing and operating governance cadences across multiple initiatives (steering committees, PMRs, risk reviews).
    • Strong risk management discipline, including IF/DUE TO/BY/THEN risk articulation, contingency planning, and mitigation tracking.
    • Familiarity with regulatory, security, or audit requirements that impact IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management
    • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders (IT, HR, Communications, vendors, business partners).
    • Demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional teams through change, including adoption of new processes, tools, or operating models.
    • Strong relationship‑building skills with internal partners (e.g., HR, Communications, Finance, Global Operations) and external vendors.
  • Communication & Change Management
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex technical and operational issues into executive‑ready messaging.
    • Experience planning and executing change‑management and communications activities in partnership with HR and Communications (e.g., stakeholder analyses, communication plans, training materials).
    • Ability to create and maintain clear, concise artifacts (roadmaps, one‑page summaries, FAQs, decision logs) that support executive visibility and workforce adoption.
  • Operational Excellence & Analytics
    • Experience defining and tracking KPIs for IT operations and project execution (e.g., cycle time, SLA adherence, change success rates, backlog health).
    • Ability to analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for process optimization and cost/schedule/performance improvements.
Basic Qualifications
  • 8 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • Experience working with Global Supply Chain and Business Management.
  • Demonstrated program/project management experience using Traditional Waterfall, Agile, and/or Hybrid methodologies on complex, cross‑functional IT initiatives.
  • Prior experience managing a portfolio of diverse and complex IT projects/initiatives, including cross‑functional dependencies and vendor‑delivered work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams in a matrixed environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR) and information security governance, including coordination with security, compliance, or audit stakeholders.
  • Scrum Master certification (e.g., Scrum Inc, Scrum Alliance, SAFe, Scrum@Scale, etc.) and/or PMP certification.
  • Experience working with Sector-CIDO and/or Sector Program Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues, propose actionable solutions, and drive issues rapidly to closure, including risk and dependency management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and collaborate with executive leadership, including preparation of clear, concise status reports and briefings.
  • Previous experience managing budgets or financials and partnering with business stakeholders to prioritize support aligned to business priorities and objectives.
  • Experience establishing and operating portfolio‑level governance, including cadence definition, dashboards, and standardized reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and translate it into clear recommendations.
  • Experience managing projects using ServiceNow.
