Role Overview
We are seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to support information system lifecycle activities at our San Diego, CA location. The position requires onsite, full‑time work and is classified; no telecommute options are available.
Responsibilities
- Use model‑based engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices to evolve delivery of defense products.
- Design, operate, and manage classified and unclassified networks that are RMF compliant.
- Deploy, utilize, and maintain network management tools.
- Ensure smooth operation during network expansion.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to design integration solutions for mission objectives across varied data‑flow scenarios.
- Plan and install security patches in adherence to program security requirements.
- Monitor and sustain target uptime and latency on systems.
- Recommend and implement system enhancements, including scripting to optimize the IT environment.
- Troubleshoot issues with users, sector partners, and vendors; develop corrective actions.
- Collaborate on requirements and planning for network and management hardware/software purchasing, upgrades, licenses, warranties, and support.
- Document designs using schematics, diagrams, and specifications; maintain system documentation and work instructions.
- Prepare security documentation for hand‑offs to Cyber Security.
- Plan and report project status as required for recurring and non‑recurring efforts.
- Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.
- Lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Work after hours and weekends as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s Degree with 6 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience; OR Associate’s Degree with 10 years of relevant experience; OR High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 12 years of relevant experience.
- Must have a current US Government Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Top Secret clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs as a condition of continued employment.
- Security+ certification or greater.
- Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.
- Understanding and implementation of IPv4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Experience with network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally Cisco IOS/IOS‑XE/FirePower/PANOS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering.
- Active Top Secret, SCI, SAP/SAR access, or polygraph.
- Professional certification specific to the networking industry (e.g., CCNP Service Provider, CCIE, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with network management applications such as Splunk, Cisco ISE, Cisco SDWAN, Palo Alto Panorama, SolarWinds, and Netbox.
- Understanding of cloud and automation tools such as NSXT, SDWAN, SDA, and Ansible.
- Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and VMware configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
- Experience with complex multi‑mesh hybrid HAIPE topologies managed via orchestration tools such as GemOne.
- Experience with Cisco Unified Communications / VoIP and VTC.

Salary
Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300 – $193,900. The range is a general guideline and may vary based on scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus may also apply.
