Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer – AARGM Program
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a senior manufacturing engineer to support the Advanced Anti‑Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM) program. The role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and collaborates closely with IPT Lead, Quality Engineer, Design Engineering, and Operations to ensure producibility meets program targets, including yield and continuous improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, review, standardization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing process documentation and MES instructions.
- Drive documentation strategy and governance across production and sustainment operations, ensuring alignment with engineering requirements, quality standards, and program objectives.
- Support rapid implementation of engineering changes, corrective actions, and process improvements while maintaining configuration accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, Test, Production, and Program Management to ensure efficient execution, troubleshooting, and schedule recovery.
- Lead manufacturing process improvement and operations execution strategies to support quality, efficiency, affordability, and production readiness.
- Provide technical leadership and manufacturing execution support to production operations and cross‑functional teams.
- Mentor manufacturing personnel through process guidance, operational support, and best practices.
- Support high‑visibility production builds, troubleshoot efforts, and schedule recovery initiatives in fast‑paced operational environments.
- Coordinate RCCA and non‑conformance resolution implementation with quality and engineering teams.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior manufacturing engineers and cross‑functional personnel.
- Offer manufacturability expertise and guidance to support design maturity, producibility, and production readiness.
- Lead cross‑functional producibility reviews for new and existing productions to ensure manufacturing readiness and operational success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree plus 6 years, or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Knowledge of IPC Standards.
- Experience with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) software for routing manufacturing orders.
- Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) activities, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance; active clearance is preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing process development and documentation governance.
- Proven track record of leading process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
- Experience in a high‑security, defense‑related manufacturing environment is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 – $193,900.00 (actual offer will depend on scope, responsibilities, and candidate experience).
- Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses.
