Job summary

Micron Technology is seeking a Principal Buyer for Capital Equipment Procurement to lead global category strategies, supplier governance, and long-term capacity planning. You will drive complex negotiations, apply should-cost analyses, and deliver TDCI while leveraging AI and analytics for smarter sourcing decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of procurement, supply chain, category management, capital equipment, engineering, or semiconductor industry experience.
  • Proven ability in leading complex negotiations and strategic supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and collaborator management skills.
  • Ability to influence across organizational and geographical boundaries.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Buyer within Micron's Capital Equipment Procurement organization, you will lead strategic supplier and category management initiatives supporting Micron's global technology development and manufacturing roadmap. The role is responsible for driving total cost competitiveness, supply assurance, supplier innovation, and long-term strategic partnerships across critical capital equipment categories!

You will collaborate closely with Technology Development, Global Operations, Facilities, Manufacturing, and Executive Leadership teams to develop and implement sourcing strategies that support Micron's growth objectives.

The successful candidate combines strong commercial and analytical skills with a digital-first outlook. They use AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, and automation to improve decision quality, enhance efficiency, and speed up business results.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Category Leadership
  • Develop and implement global category strategies for assigned capital equipment suppliers and technologies.
  • Partner with internal collaborators to align sourcing activities with business, technology, and capacity roadmaps.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Semiconductor capital equipment experience.
  • Experience supporting Technology Development or advanced node programs.
  • Knowledge of supplier cost structures and should-cost methodologies.
  • Experience engaging supplier executives and leading global sourcing strategies.
  • Strong business insight and executive communication skills.
