Northrop Grumman Space Systems- Propulsion Division is currently looking for a Principal / Senior Principal Maintenance Reliability Engineer to join our Tooling and Facilities Engineering group supporting our manufacturing operations at our Rocket Motor Manufacturing facility located in the Promontory, Utah facility. This position will occasionally support the Clearfield, Copper Crossing and Bacchus locations. Candidate must be willing to travel to all 4 campuses and be on site. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Description & Responsibilities

As an Electrical Reliability Engineer, you will be the technical leader for the reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of automated electrical and electromechanical equipment across the plant. You will specialize in a wide range of electrical components and systems including power distribution, motors and drives, PLC‑based controls, instrumentation, and safety‑related circuits. You will review existing manufacturing equipment and facilities and become familiar with OEM manufacturing build protocols, electrical schematics, and control logic as they relate to machine function and failure modes. You will ensure that correct preventive, predictive, and condition‑based maintenance procedures are in place for both electrical and mechanical systems, and you will recommend and maintain critical spare parts to keep the plant operational on a 24/7 basis. A major part of this role is developing and implementing machine and system monitoring strategies by predicting failures before they occur using vibration, temperature, electrical signature, power‑quality, and other analysis. You will work to ensure that all manufacturing equipment and supporting electrical infrastructure perform maintain a high level of machine uptime. There is considerable latitude for independent action and decision making. You will support our current facility and enable it to grow to the next level of operations and production. You will prepare presentations and reports detailing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) on the assets you support, and you will aid in developing standard electrical and reliability specifications for future equipment purchases.

Basic Qualifications

Principal Reliability Engineer (level 3) Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of 5 years’ experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, or manufacturing facilities support/maintenance Basic understanding of various types of manufacturing equipment. Understanding of CAPEX engineering projects or equipment installation. Experience interacting with craftsmen, maintenance planners, and management. Understanding of reliability concepts (i.e., MTTR, MTBF, probability of failure, condition monitoring, etc.) Experience with CMMS/EAM and equipment failure data analysis Ability to negotiate and consult with vendors as required to maintain and repair mechanical equipment. Proficient in Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, PowerBI. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a Reliability Engineer in a manufacturing environment. Experience with Ignition, Canary, Python, or other Industrial IoT technology. Experience with predictive analytics / machine learning. Experience with PLCs and generating tags. Experience with additive manufacturing. Experience with CAD software. Experience with high and low voltage electrical systems. Experience leading high functioning cross functional teams. Experience implementing CMMS/EAM in an organization. Experience with CNC equipment and control system including Allen-Bradley, FANUC, and Siemens. Experience in installing, commissioning, supporting or maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment.

Primary Level Salary Range: $106,200.00 - $129,800.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $125,640.00 - $153,560.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
