Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Promontory, UT, seeks a Sr. Principal Engineer Energetics Manufacturing - Level4 to lead test systems engineering for aerospace components, including rocket motors and initiation systems. You will design and oversee build, install, and checkout of test support equipment with a strong emphasis on safety and documentation.

The role requires a Bachelor’s with 8+ years or a Master’s with 6+ years (or PhD with 4+ years) and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Review safety and manage complex test projects with non-compromising standards.
• Present technical data to leadership and review boards.
• Work in test facilities including offsite customers to develop solutions for testing challenges.
• Maintain and update the UIE drawings database in TRO (mechanical drawings and electrical schematics).
• Work overtime to meet drawing deadline requirements.

As a Sr. Principal Engineer Energetics Manufacturing - Level4 located in Promontory, UT , you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.

As a TestSystems Engineer (Sr. Principal Engineer Energetics Manufacturing) on the TestSystems Engineering Team, works with senior engineers to maintain and/or develop control systems in support of environmental, structural, dynamic, and static test processes for aerospace components including; rocket motors, rocket motor initiation systems, ordnance devices, and illuminating devices.

This position will work a 4/10 schedule, with every Friday off.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Candidate for this position will be part of a team that is responsible for designing, documenting and overseeing the build, installation and checkout process for test support equipment.
• Candidate will work with Test Engineering and Operations to document ground test equipment electrical and mechanical designs, test setups, and bay configurations.
• Test engineers must have a willingness to learn how to manage complex test projects and be non-compromising with regards to safety even when working under pressure.
• Test engineers must be comfortable presenting technical data to leadership and review boards.
• Test engineers spend time in test facilities (including at offsite customers) developing solutions to a variety of complex testing challenges.
• Successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating the UIE drawings database in TRO, which includes both mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Candidate must be willing to work overtime on occasion to meet drawing deadline requirements.
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with 8 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 6 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 4 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 8+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to create clear and understandable documentation
• Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with NX CAD systems, AutoCAD, P-CAD , and Altium
• Experience with Siemens EPLM database, Teamcenter , and life cycle management
• Experience c onvert ing rough sketches, concepts and engineering specifications into accurate technical drawings/bluep rints
• Experience m aintain ing and upda ting CAD libraries, templates, and version control for project fil es
• Experience p erform ing detailed reviews of completed drawings for accuracy, dimensional compatibility, and adherence to drafting stand ards
• Working knowledge of electrical design concepts , including military and industry standards for mechanical and electromechanical parts and assemblies
